Re: first day of house hunting is tomorrow
Have fun! It's a beautiful day for house hunting...
Remember that the 3 Ls - location, lot size, and layout can't be changed (well, layout can sometimes be modified, but not easily). So make sure you are happy with those things before you focus no things like cosmetic finishes and updated that you can add yourself.
Ask questions! For example, before you put in an offer, it's always a good idea to find out the age of major systems and features of the home (e.g., roof, windows, heating system, central air conditioning, etc.). If the seller or listing agent isn't there, your agent can always get that information for you. Most people are honest (although some people don't know or can't remember. Then your home inspector can usually confirm the information you received, and you can always ask the seller to provide the paperwork for whatever they say they installed (for example, if they said they did the roof 5 years ago, they should have documentation of that).
Think about not just whether you like the house, but whether it will work for you and your family. For example, I love the charm and style of older homes built in the 1920s/1930s, but a lot of those homes would never work for me because they lack the room size and storage that I personally need.
Also, see how you feel after seeing 11 homes in one day. In my experience, that is a LOT for a potential buyer to take in. My customers usually find that looking at more than a few homes in a day becomes counterproductive... they all start to blend together and they can't really absorb what they are seeing after awhile. Unless I have an out of town customer who is only in the area for a limited time, I usually only book 4 or maybe 5 houses to see in a day. So you may find 11 is just too much to see.
As far as bringing your camera - that's a great idea to help you recall what you are seeing and review it later. However, if the house is occupied and the seller is there, make sure you ask if it's ok to take pictures of their home. Most people will say yes, but I have found that sellers are very appreciative of buyers who are respectful of the fact that they are in someone else's home. And if they like you, it can only help you if you decide to put an offer in on their home.
Let us know how you do!

Re: first day of house hunting is tomorrow
Thanks I appreciated the recommendations.
I also thought 11 was alot too, but it wasn't by our choice. We were around yesterday, today, tomorrow and monday and our realtor is so busy and was only was available today. I didn't want to wait to spilt up the houses b/t this weekend and next weekend as the good houses in our price range go pretty quickly where we are looking. It worked out OK though b/c since we know exactly what we are looking for, the minute we knew a house wasn't for us, we got out of there LOL. We did end up finding the perfect (well almost) house for us and will be putting an offer in tomorrow. The only bad thing is the taxes are alittle higher then we would like them to be, but we should be able to get the house for a great price, so hoping it works out.
