green tea?
I know we're supposed to limit caffeine, so I bought a big box of decaf green tea. But DH did some research and found that grean tea can block folic acid absorption. And he read that herbal tea can cause miscarriage!?!???? I don't know where he finds this stuff, but now he thinks I shouldn't drink any tea at all. My doctor didn't say anything about not drinking tea. Has anyon else heard that tea is bad for you when you're pregnant? Or has your doctor told you a certain kind that is ok to drink? TIA!

Re: green tea?
When I was preggo the Dr said to avoid green tea because it does block the absorption of Folic Acid- which is super important to the baby's development. A cup here and there won't hurt- but I wouldn't drink it all the time.

Re: green tea?
If you do drink amount and green tea limit the amount and time of day. Do not drink it near when you take your vitamin or foods containing folic acid. I drank it with ds and he was fine but decided with dd and this baby it's easier just not to drink it. If I am sick I will have a cup but otherwise I drink hot water with lemon if I want a warm drink.

Re: green tea?
Crashing. You'd have to drink at least 6 cups a day to affect folic acid absorption. As long as you're not chugging it by the gallon, it's fine. I'd stick with the regular version though. There's really very little caffeine in it (esp when compared to coffee) and the decaffeination process strips the tea of a lot of it's benefits.

Re: green tea?
Ive heard to be careful with any herbal teas and just do a plain decaf tea if you want it... and yes green tea in very light moderation... Im extra cautious so I just avoid it, I dont really want or need it that badly...
