birth control after you give birth
hi ladies just wondering what everyone is thinking after they give birth as far as BC is concerned?
After DD1 was born, we knew we wanted another one so we didnt worry about BC - we just did whatever :)
now after #2 - I know right now we are not ready for #3, i dont know if we ever will be.
What do you plan on using?
I got off the patch 6 yrs ago and i was on the pill about 8 yrs ago.
I am nervous about the homrones in the pill etc....

I don't know what I'm going to do either! I plan on BFing/pumping and I read you're not supposed to take the pill.

After this one we are done, so I am having my tubes tied. There was no way I wanted to start up with BC again.

We're not sure either but in the same boat as you and wondering our options. I know we don't want to go with the pill due to BF and it can cause clots. There are so many different options out now though we were just going to ask our Dr. for suggestions.

They have a mini pill which is safe while BFING
After DS #1 I went on the mini pill since i was BFing, after i was done BFing i went on the regulary pill. I stopped taking the pill when we wanted to TTC and I got pregnant 1st month off of BCP with #2. I plan on doing the same again.

Condoms. We aren't sure if we are done yet. We can't handle 3 financially right now but we are both young so anything can change in the future so we are leaving that option open so no tubes being tied and no pill because I EBF and anything else freaks me out so stupid condoms it is.

Exactly this, except I never switched to the regular pill because I was still BFing.

Probably the mini pill at first because I will be Bfing. Then IUD or Essure because I am DONE!

If DH doesn't get snipped (he's supposed to, but chickened out last year and hence I got pregnant), I will get the Mirena IUD again. I had it already for 5 years and loved it!

I have tried various forms of hormonal BC such as pills and the nuva ring and I hated pretty much all of them. They turn me into an emotional lunatic!
I have thought about getting my tubes tied but we decided against it.
Most likely we will wait a year or two after this baby is born and then DH will get snipped!
Until then....pull n pray and my cycle which did work for us for 6 years!

I plan to BF and won't take the pill, so I need to find out if the IUD is an option while BFing. If it is, that might be the route I go.
Otherwise condoms until I'm done BFing.

I am considering Mirena. I was on the pill so long (13+ years) I'm not sure if it's best for me to go on again.
Going to talk to my doctor about it once I get closer to the end.
We definitely want a second, but I don't want to start even thinking/trying for that one until this baby is 1.

Not sure yet ~ I can't take BC pills due to my blood clotting issues ~ I was thinking of getting my tubes tied ~ since I will be having a c-section. (hubby doesn't think I should tie my tubes so I am still unsure)

. This is what I am most likely going to use. I don't want hormones anymore. I was the pill for 8 years and than did fertility treatments to get pg both times. I think I have had enough hormones for a while! Eventually I think dh will get snipped!

I have no idea right now. I will never take another hormonal bc for the rest of my life. I have PCOS and it took us almost two years to conceive this one so I don't want to mess with my hormones at all. I'm also not comfortable with any of the iud's as there is that small risk of them tearing through the uterus and we may want one more DC so I don't want to take that chance. More than likely we'll use condoms and I'll track my cycles.

what she said! after coming off BC, I realized how much it messed with my body. I felt so much better after being off it for a while. I NEVER want to go back on it. I know a lot more about my cycle now after TTC so we will go with that, pull&pray & occasionally condoms.

I had no desire to go back on the pill. We used condoms after DS and will probably do the same until we are ready to TTC #3.
