Train from paris to belgium to amsterdam

We want to take a train from Paris to Belgium and then from Belgium to Amsterdam. Has anyone done this, if so, which train did you take? Where is the station located? Any other info would be great! Chat Icon

Re: Train from paris to belgium to amsterdam

I took a train once from Brussels to Amsterdam.

It was a long time ago so I remember zero details but I remember it being relatively easy to book on the internet.

It took about 2.5 hours.

I do remember the station in Amsterdam was centrally located. All major sites were within walking distance. (We were just there for the day - 6-7 hours.)

Re: Train from paris to belgium to amsterdam

You would take the train from Amsterdam Centraal to Brussels Central I think(Brussels has 4 major train stations, so check which one). I think Central is Midi. It's about 3 hours. You can easily buy tickets at the train station. That will be with an IC/EC train. You can also get the Thalys (High speed train), but it will cost more and it takes about 2 hours. They leave fairly often.

Brussels has a good subway system and it's reasonably priced. I was just there in October.

I'm not too sure about Paris to Brussels. But it's probably fairly easy b/c Paris is a main hub. You'll pay more faster trains. I find if it is only 3 hours or so, I can live with the IC trains.

A good app is the German DB app. It's free and it has worked very well for me even outside of Germany. It just won't tell you ticket prices outside of Germany. The app is called DB Navigator. DB=Deustche Bahn. However, you have to kind of know your train station names, but once past that it's really helpful.

ETA: The station in Amsterdam is pretty central and very close to the Red Light District. Brussels's stations are centrally located and the subways each have a station at the main train stations.

Thank you! I started to do some research and it seems like the Thalys might be the easiest way to go between all 3 cities.

Ok. I just remembered I think a reservation is required for Thalys trains, but I'm not sure. You might want to check on that.
