Had first baby appt
Last friday. It was pretty much just a physical and education, but I did convince her to try the doppler even though I was 9 weeks and we heard a hb! So cool and so reassuring! Dh was there so he got to hear it too!
They wernt going to do a sono until 20 wks (wahhhh!) But I expressed that I really didnt want to wait that long, so she wrote up that I need a "dating sono" even though I know the date so I get to have one next friday! I cant freakin wait!
Dh also finished the babys room last weekend, its painted with the new hardwood floors down. Cant wait to get some furniture and decor in there once we find out what it is :)

Congratulations!
So weird how each dr is different ~ I had a sono at 6 weeks (to see if there is a sac and make sure the pregnancy is progressing and we saw the heartbeat) and 12 weeks, then 20 weeks ~ your dr wasn't going to do any sono's until 20 weeks? I would go nuts if we didn't have any sono's until 20 weeks.

Maybe your dr meant you wouldnt have a big sono on the big machines with the big tv where they do the nt, anatomy scans, etc. But will be doing sonos on the small sono machines that are in the rooms. Thats how my practice works. There are the 'big' sonos but at every visit i have a sono on the small machine to see hb and baby.
Plus at your first visit they do a sono to confirm its a viable pregnancy.
Actually your first big sono would be between 10-12 weeks, for the nt. Every woman and every practice does that. They also draw blood.
Either way congratulations and best of luck.

No, they normally dont do any sonos until 20 wks, unless you need the dating sono or you have genetic testing in which case they will do it around 12.
They wouldnt even schedule the first appt until I was 9 weeks and like I said I had to request the doppler. They drew blood at this appt.
I also live upstate now and this seems to be the norm from asking around. Long island seems to be a little sono-obsessed. (not knockin it- I wish I was getting alot more!)

thats so weird they don't do sonos.....
do they keep doing bloodwork then to check that the levels are increasing then at least?
with my second PG my mc wasn't natural. it was the early sono which shown that it had stopped growing.

Not positive about continuous bloodwork, I didnt ask, but I dont think so. I think by the 12 wk mark they just check for a hb and if they dont get one they prob would do a sono. We didnt opt for genetic testing but if u did they would do one at 12 weeks (the nt) but its a choice. I almost did it just for the sono but we are saying we need to "date it" instead- I can avoid all the bloodwork now.
This practice is also midwives- there are doctors you see in the later weeks but in the beginning you see the midwives or the nurse practioner who I saw. they do less sonos than drs. But its a highly respected practice.
I was 9 wks at the first appt and they took a lot of blood for labs so I suppose they would have just caught it then if anything had happened w/o me knowing. Sorry for your loss :(
