What do you think of this name?

We are team so we need both a girl and a boy's name.
DH is obssessed with the name Luciana. He wants to call her Lucy. It's a beautiful name and I do love it but it just sounds too Italian to me. There's nothing wrong with an Italian name but I don't want people to think she's Italian if she sends out a resume or email (thinking work environment). She'll actually be Polish/ Chinese. Do you think the name Luciana will sound odd with our last name? Our last name starts with B, one syllable. DS is Tyler. Does Luciana sound out of place compared to her brother's name?

i like the name too but yes, I would think she is Italian or European. SIL will probably name our nephew Luciano but he will be 3/4 Portuguese and they wanted a european name that goes with their last name.

on a side note, my friend is half polish and half japanese and she is BEAUTIFUL! Our daughter will be half korean, half portuguese. Can't wait to see the result

I just googled DH's last name it says it's English/ Dutch. Now I'm confused. He told me he was Polish.

It's a beautiful name, but I would definitely assume she was Italian.

That was my college roommate's name. I agree that it is a beyond beautiful name. We called he Lu-Lu for short. She is 100 % Italian.
I honestly don't think it makes a difference what your background is as long as you like the name.

If you both love the name you should go with it!

I am SUPER Irish but I had the luck of marrying a guy with a very Italian last name...so someone looking at my resume might think I'm Italian...but I've have never had a tan in my life. I wouldn't worry about the job hunt aspect.

I guess being Chinese it would be different. I actually have a friend with a similar married name problem. She is now mrs. Wong and she is a blonde, blue eyes barbie doll. Kinda funny the first time I met her. But it didn't make me think any differently of her. I just changed my last name from Nicholas to Faraci, and I wonder what this will do to my job search. Who knows.... The only thing I get so far professionally is, how do you spell that?

BTW, I may steal the name, we have had no luck agreeing on a girl name!

Sorry to crash, but I think you both need to feel comfortable and want the name. He may love it but if it doesn't make you 100% happy then he'll need to concede.
I do think it is a very Italian sounding name, but I don't really think that matters all that much. What about naming her Lucy if he loves that?

DS name is Seamus Finn. Our last name starts O'


He is technically more German than Irish but oh well.

DS #2 will be Kiernan Ronan. Figured we would stick with the Irish theme lol

Would he settle on naming her Lucy if that's what you guys would call her anyway? I think Lucy is a great name too!

Ds has a Greek first name. Dh is French/Irish I am German/Irish. But we love our sons name. I personally do not believe in nicknames. If you want to call her Lucy then name her Lucy. I did stop to consider the moment that my son comes to me and says mom what were you thinking when you chose my name? But never thought about his future job search.
I think it is most important that you both like the names you chose.

What about just naming her Lucy? That isn't Italian sounding. I love the name Lucy......
