Ectopic
I'm in the hospital right now recovery from emergency laparoscopy. I lost my right tube. I was having terrible pain all week from what was apparently internal bleeding. I had a beta of 9500; this is from the cycle that started mid-December, yet this January cycle I had normal day 3 bloods, made a follicle that matured enough to produce the right amount of estrogen, started an LH surge, triggered and confirmed it collapsed, had an IUI...all while pregnant. All from natural cycles.
It never stops getting more interesting.

The beta was 9500 last night. The doctors were scratching their heads that my progesterone wasn't even a little bit elevated on day 3.

That's insane.. did you do sonos before the IUI? I know nothing can be changed now and Im so sorry for that...
These dr's have some real explaining to do...

omg! i'm sorry! in 2010, i was in the exact same position as you are. i had emergency surgery which resulted in removal of my right tube. if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me. i hope your recovery goes quickly.

OMG... I am so sorry. I lost my right tube also, had the internal bleeding and it was the worst pain ever!!
I hope you heal quickly...take it easy and get lots of rest

this is a crazy story!!!!!! i guess on cd 3 sono was too early to see anything and maybe blood test did not check beta?

I had lots of ultrasounds, not just to track ovulation but once the pains started. I know you don't really see an ectopic unless you're looking for it. And even then, it's hard because the tubes and the embryo are so small. Like last night I had to have an abdominal as well as the transvaginal, and the abdominal u/s was what confirmed the ectopic on the right side.
As far as the day 3 beta (another PP asked about) they used to do that at RSofNY. That's how we caught my 3rd chemical. When I went to RMA I noticed that they didn't do this as part of the protocol, and when I asked they said it was unnecessary because the progesterone/estrogen levels would be screwed up and indicate the need for a beta if a person were preggers. This is why Dr. Brenner was baffled that my progesterone was less than 2 on day 3. That's not normal for someone with a positive beta. This is something we need to talk about: ectopic or not, why didn't my progesterone increase in response to the HCG. It's hard to keep a pregnancy if your ovaries don't respond hormonally to HCG to support the pregnancy.
I have feeling that day 3 beta is going to become part of the protocol at LIIVF.
I'm home now after a long night in the hospital. I'm sore and sad about my tube, but I'll be okay. Thanks for all the love

I'm so sorry. I had a similar experience in Dec (rupture and internal bleeding, as well as only having a tube on my left side) and it stinks. My heart goes out to you.
