car seats

for those of you that have someone else watching your LO when you return to work...are you getting them their own car seat base?

I ask because we will have a total of up to 4 different people watching my LO every week:

-close family friend who we are paying (2 days)
-FIL (1 or 2 days)
-my brother (1 day)
-my Mom (1 day)

The extra car seat bases for my travel system are only 40 bucks a piece, so I was thinking of getting an extra 4 of them, that way we dont have to take them out of everyones car each time.

Thoughts???

The car seat only goes up to 35 lbs...how old is that for a child anyway??

Re: car seats

You will use the infant seat for a year or less depending on how the baby likes the seat (mine hated it and we switched to the convertible at 5 months and he was way happier), how big your baby is and how comfortable you feel carrying the thing around. It gets heavy after awhile and a lot of ladies switch to the convertible when they can no longer carry the thing.

Depending on how long they will be watching your DC I would maybe get the convertible seats. They fit babies starting at 5lbs. and if they will be watching your DC longer than a year than that would be a better value to you.

If you do decide to go with the bases though, I would check on the parenting board in the buy/swap/sell section. Since a lot of ladies do only use the infant seat for a year or less there are always bases on there to be sold. I got my extra one on there for waaaay cheaper than at the store.
