Re: Yo, really?!
Honestly if it was me I would walk away, your not even in contract and you have A LOT of issues going on...I can only imagine how the whole process will be...I hope whatever decision you make works out!

Re: Yo, really?!
Do you have just an accepted offer, or signed contracts?
If the oil issue was already reported to the county, they or the other people that put in a bid are still going to have to deal with the isse.
I'd probably walk away and take this as a blessing in disguise.

I would definitely walk away. You'll be able to find something else without so many problems. We had the same issues with two other houses before we found ours.....offers accepted and then all of a sudden the sellers were being sketchy about things.

Re: Yo, really?!
I would walk away too. They may have told their attorney this to get you to pay more money so they don't have to shoulder the cost of the huge oil tank expenses. I might ask for a copy of the other offer, but frankly, if I was in your shoes I would walk away. There will be another, better home out there. ETA: I would also ask your attorney if you have any recourse depending upon what your contracts said. If your contract was signed they can get a higher offer but it does not mean they can just take it. It would really depend upon what was spelled out in your contract. You need your attorney to advise you on this matter.

We didn't get to the contract yet. We were still in negotiations based off of what the inspection and soil test stated.
