Coxsakie Virus...
Okay -- I know quite a few people on here have had experience with this.
What symptoms should I watch for first in Emily...
And what symptoms would I be experiencing if I am getting it?

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
i don't know if she actually has it or not...just worried since Ryan has it and it is highly contageous.
i do feel kinda crapulant myself right now...and emily was very tired today and felt warm at times...but I wasn't even concerned until Marissa mentioned that Ryan isn't feeling good.
Don't worry Corinne -- hopefully we won't all get it. We'll see how Emme and I feel in the morning.
Jamie -- I know your little one isn't feeling well .... keep us posted on that!

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
Jacob had it last week.. i noticed that he was refusing to eat a few days leading up to it, and then he just woke one morn with a temp of 103... and then he started vomiting. Apparently he had the sores in his mouth that is why he didnt want to eat. It took about 4 days to go away..

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
Why is it so popular this year? My niece had it twice this summer (from camp), thankgod Julia wasn't around her. I know I had it when I was a kid, but I never heard of it again untill this summer. Very strange!

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
I posted a link a little while back with what to watch for. To start, it's crankiness, refusing to eat, and possibly a fever. It varies kid to kid though.
It's one of those viruses that are highly contagious and always spread a lot in summer.

You need to look for blisters in Emily's mouth and you may also see blisters on her hands. She will run high fevers and seem lethargic.

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
Roman had it a few weeks back, GOD I HOPE HE DOESN"T GET IT AGAIN! It was very strange he was fine one day and then at night I was undressing him for a bath and his skin was hot to the touch all over.
He never had the blisters on his hands and toes, just in his mouth and throat. That was awful enough. He could not be comforted and just wailed and didn't sleep for about four days.
He has a running nose and is coughing but I'm praying it's teething related. He goes for his 6 month well visit tom. so we'll see.
Hope all the little ones (and Mommies) feel better soon

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
Alex had it about 6 weeks ago... she felt warm all day and was particularly cranky and sleepy. That night she kept waking up every hour or so crying. I took her temp in the morning and it was 103.1. We took her to the doc that day and he looked in her mouth and saw the blisters... thankfully, for us, it was a VERY mild case that only lasted about 2-3 days... if Emily starts getting cranky, sleepy and develops a high fever, I would take her to the doctor

Re: Coxsakie Virus...
It is very contagiuos. mY daughter had it last week and she was miserable, more so at night. She woke up with a fever and I noticed a tiny, tiny blister on one of her toes. Check the bottoms of the feet for little red dots. She ended up with blisters on her hands, fet, throat (which I couldn't see but the dr. confirmed) and one on her lip. She was miserable for two nights. Crying, crying and more crying. My DH had to take her in the car in the middle of the night to get her to calm down and we never did that before. The Dr. prescribed something they refer to as "magic mouthwash" which seemed to help. It is a mixture of mylanta (I think0, benedryl and some other stuff. I hope all your kids don't get it and if they do I hope it is short lived.

Every summer it goes around. It's more prevalent in babies because of the teething/drool and because they share toys.

No I know that, but its just so weird to hear how many cases this summer. Even my doctor found it odd as to how many people are getting it. My sisters kids never got it, and now this summer my niece got it twice.
