Pine is one of the softer woods but there is nothing wrong with it at all. Its beautiful.

My dad sold unfinished furniture my whole life so I have become an expert at this stuff by osmosisChat Icon

We purposey did not buy pine because of how soft it is and how easily it dents.

Re: Did I make a mistake with my nursery

ok, checked with the expert himself and SOME pine furniture dents more easily than others. Find out what KIND of pine it is and I will check into this further.Chat Icon

i say don't worry too much - all furniture will dent or get nicks over time...you loved it so you chose it! Chat Icon

I have pine furniture in my house (not in the baby's room) and it does dent easily, but I love it because it has a lot of character and looks less brand new...I don't like brand new looking furniture...

same here and especially sice its a convo crib and we are using that furniture till they are teenagers. dont want the nicks and dents to make it look old and used.

Im sure you are fine though!

Re: Did I make a mistake with my nursery

the whole idea behind pine is that it is soft and eventually it will dent and become distressed. a lot of people really like that distressed look so they go with pine.
If you don't like that look, then you might want to check into a hard wood. Maple, Oak, Cherry, etc.

Thanks ladies!

I think it's Swedish Pine made in Thailand. It's the Bonavita Sheffield collection. (www.bonavita-cribs.com)

I just remember seeing a picture of someone's pine crib full of teeth marks!

I just hate spending all that money for it to be ruined so fast.

Re: Did I make a mistake with my nursery

I think that one of the charms about pine furniture is that it does dent easily. The "shabby chic" look is very IN right now so it might not be the worst look in the world! I've seen them try so hard on TLC and Extreme Makover to distress wood!

I love pine! Yes is dents easily, but that's why I like it. It adds character. I would never suggest pine floors though Chat Icon

I have a pine bedroom set and I love it. It does dent and scratch easily, but hey...people shouldn't be inspecting your furniture for each and every dent, IMHO.Chat Icon
