Has anyone started house hunting yet?
We are looking in Commack & E. Northport. Thinking of looking in Northport/E. Northport schools. Anyone live in the area? How close is it to the highways?

BTW. Slim pickings for what we want in those areas. I'm sure things will hopefully come up in March/April!

We're in contract for a house in Commack. We were only looking at houses in Commack SD, but parts of E. NPT are in Commack schools. I've noticed that a bunch of houses that were on mls came off for a while but are coming back on now. We went to contract in Dec and the inventory of houses definitely went down from when we 1st started looking (Nov) until we went to contract. But it does seem like the inventory is starting to oncreas again - I think some people wait to list their homes until the worst of the winter is over.
Getting to the highways from Commack is not bad - the Sagtikos is right there and from that you can get Northern State and the LIE. Also the LIE is right down Commack Rd. (But Commack is so big, I guess it depends on what part you're in).

So funny that is exactly where we are looking as well as soon as we get into contract on our current house. But I did notice the inventory is very bare right now as well.

I grew up in Norhtport and no its not close to any of the parkways really. It will take you roughly 10mins to ge to the NS or more to the LIE depending on where you end up. From where I lived in Northport it was at least 15 mins to get to the highways.
Loved living there but it is def out of the way. But then again most of the North Shore is.

As much as I want to venture into another area, I keep coming back to Commack & E. Northport. As long as highways are nearby it works for us for my husbands commute. I have to have patience for the right house to come along!

DH grew up in E. Npt in the Commack SD. His parents still live there, and they are sooo close to everything! Right by the Sag and NS. Close to so many stores and the outlets. Not too too far from
lie. I think it really depends on where you live.
