Dusty rose color for dining room?
We're going to be painting our dining room soon, and I'm having trouble deciding on a color. I'm in the very beginning stages of a color, but do you think that a dusty rose shade would be too much for a formal dining room? Should I go more subdued? It's the first room that you walk into when you walk into our house.
Our furniture in the dining room is dark wood.

I think that color is very dated. I would go with something lighter, like a blue or green, if you want to make an impact with the dark furniture, or a cream/tan color if you want to stay neutral.

I have Hampshire taupe in my dining room. It is a neutral color with a pinkish undertone.
I don't always love it, but it may be perfect for your room.

If your furniture was white-ish shabby chic, I think the dusty rose would look pretty.
I agree with LB - go with a really nice neutral color and pretty accents. If you want it to be formal - go with lots of ornate gold - frames, candlesticks, etc. I have lotsa gold in my DR and I don't think it looks dated.
Or if you want the color to be dramatic, try a dark brown.
I have Tree Branch by Sherwin Williams in my office with dark durniture and I get so many compliments on it.
