my first through HSBC and then we refinanced a year later since the rates went down and went with United Mortgage. My DH works for them in the summer and got us a great deal!
My advice- shop around! Make the mortgage brokers try to get your business by giving you the best rates. They are negotiable in a way!

I was about to do a chase mortgage for the house I was considering buying.
They were great... and were even better for me cause my co-op loan is chase... they gave me some additional perks.

we used Roger Hayslip in the Lake Success office and he was SOO great. he gave us a free float down when rates dropped a 2nd time (so we had 2 float downs) and he even came to our closing even though he wasn't scheduled to.
I have heard other good things about other mortgage guys at Astoria too

GMAC. They had an arrangement with the UFT and some fees were waived. I'd recommend them.
