Spinoff - Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ok, so I've got to admit - I've never been impressed with the recipe on the back of the Toll House chocolate chips for their cookies & I see on the thread everyone loves them.
I'm also an odd one because chewy chocolate chip cookies make me .
My favorite kind of chocolate chip cookie is buttery. Also a perfect blend of slightly chewy, but more crispy...especially the edges!
Has ANYONE ever come across a recipe that makes them like this?
I swear - I long for a chocolate chip cookie I had many, many years ago at a friend's slumber party....

Re: Spinoff - Chocolate Chip Cookies
I don't have a recipe, but I've heard brown butter chocolate chip cookies are buttery. Maybe give them a try?
I like crispy and buttery cookies too. I always make the toll house and just cook them longer...

Re: Spinoff - Chocolate Chip Cookies
Toll House cookies (pre-made) are the only ones that come out buttery, with the crispy hard outsides and the gooey center... I can't find an actual recipe that compares!

Re: Spinoff - Chocolate Chip Cookies
Try Alexis Stewart's recipe (Martha's daughter). This might be the kind you are looking for.
Small Batch Thin & Crispy Chocolate Chip Cookies (adapted from Alexis’ Chocolate Chip)
4 oz *cool* unsalted butter (1 stick) – 114 grams 1/4 cup granulated sugar 48 grams 3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed 140 grams 1/4 teaspoon vanilla 1 large egg 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour (140 grams) 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup chocolate chips (use more or less as desired)
Don’t preheat the oven quite yet because there is a short chill time.
Beat the cool butter until creamy using an electric mixer. Beat in both sugars, and vanilla. When creamy, beat in the egg. When egg is mixed in, beat in salt and baking soda – beat just enough so that the leavenings are fully mixed in, but don’t go crazy beating the batter. Add flour and stir until it is almost blended in. Add the chocolate chips and stir until all flour disappears. Chill the dough for about a half hour (or more, of course).
Preheat to 350 degrees F.
Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls onto the parchment lined cookie sheets. Bake one sheet at a time on center rack for 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown. The cookies should get very brown around the edges, but do take care not to burn the bottoms.
Makes about 22 cookies
