Starting to chicken out.... *updated below*
Tonight is our IVF consult. I'm so nervous.... Unexplained IF is so hard to take, that part of me wants to kinda demand a lapro to rule out endometriosis.... if I have it, maybe they can clean me up and I'll conceive naturally, but then I think "4 failed iui's" and I think I'm being ridiculous. It's just hard to accept this. Is asking for a laproscopic a waste of time? Should I just shut up and be pregnant in 6 weeks?

Re: Starting to chicken out.... *gah!*
will a lap delay your IVF? i dont think its wrong to question where your treatment has taken you. if you think there is more you can do and its more important to do this the way that you want than it is to do it fast, then def ask for a lap.
i really think that when it comes to infertility we all become so desperate that we lose sight of the end result. will a baby in 6 weeks or 3 months make a big difference in your life long term? either way neither plan is a guarantee of a baby. you just have to remember that MOST people do end up with a baby, and only the most severe cases do not. its just a matter of time, so balance whats important to you.
IMO if you are ready for IVF you will know. we did a year of fertility treatments with two chemicals. we actually never did IUIs. but when dr. B said it was IVF time, DH and I agreed. do i think I couldve gotten pregnant with medicated cycles and not IVF, yes. but IVF was a more controlled "Safer" environment in my case so it made sense.

I think this would be a great question to bring during your consult tonight. It will seem overwhelming, but it is just another step that will take you closer to your child.
A lap can be a better diagnostic tool, and you can find out more than just having endo. But, this could all be better explained by your RE and recommended if you need it or not.
After 3.5 years of TTC, I am willing to try anything. Good luck, and remember to write your questions/answers down, because it will be a lot of info in a short amount of time.

im sure its very scary. Dr B told me on Saturday that when im ready IVF would likely be my ideal option but that i would HAVE to get a lap done to rule out endometriosis.

I think its to make sure there are no endo lesions that can prevent implantation. Sometimes they can clear the tubes then you can conceive naturally. But Im not sure if this is why they would do it b/c they will bypass tubes anyway via IVF.
A big difference with Dr B and Hershlag is that Hershlag is totally against treating autoimmune issues caused by endo. Im not with Dr B but Totrotiello is treating my endo prior to ivf with a month of lupron to surpress it.
I had a lap a yr ago and no blockages per HSG but my tubes most likely fill with fluid and block the egg at IUI time or endo can be blocking them in the ovary. The lap can't remove ALL endo.

Re: Starting to chicken out.... *gah!*
Hi Everyone! I'm back A smart little bird told me something today that the doctor also told me tonight:
You don't have endo. And even if you do, and there is a little bit of endometrium stuck to stuff, a) a lap may not catch it and b) there's nothing much we could do if there is. My tubes aren't blocked, my last HSG didn't show anything, and he just thinks U IF is just that.
I asked him his expert opinion- what does HE think I have? He said "nothing". he thinks maybe maybe DH's sperm may have a hard time penetrating the egg wall? But then again I had a chemical, so I guess we'll find out when they give me my fert report.
SO here we go! CD1 is on Thursday,so that's when I call the IVF nurse.
No BCP Lupron, then monitoring, then Menopur and then he said he'll decide the other stim....
Wanna hear the best part? THEY DON'T USE PIO ANY MORE! He said they use some kind of crionine (sp?) gel.
Oh, also, if viable embies, we're implanting two because of age and viability.
Expected ER March 9th ish?
