If my first RE appt ends up being a few days after CD3...
will I have to wait through the whole rest of my cycle to get bloodwork? I'm asking because I just made my appt. and the earliest she can give me might put me at around cd6 or 7. I really don't want to have to wait for my next cycle because my cycles can be pretty long.
A few weeks ago, I saw my regular OBGYN and she gave me a prescription for CD3 bloodwork, but I still haven't gotten AF. Do you think if I get it soon that I should follow through with that bloodwork, or call the RE's office if I get AF to see if I should get bloodwork done there before my appt?
Sorry if that was confusing! I'm confused myself, and the receptionist at the RE's office also seemed confused by my question  . I just don't want to get stuck waiting over a month to get the bloodwork!

The only problem I see is if you are going to start a fertility drug like clomid/femara...that starts usually between CD 2-5 so you would be beyond where you would normally start...your RE would see you CD 3 for blood & sono...would you gyn give you a sono @ CD3...I think it might be tough and your RE may want to do more tests like HSG, genetic tests, etc...is this the first time your seeing and RE?

Yes, it's my first appt. So it sounds like if it ends up being past cd3, I'll not only have to wait until the next cycle for bloodwork, but then wait until THAT cycle is over if I need to start meds? I guess I'm glad I got the ball rolling with this, because it sounds like a really long process!

If you get it before the RE appt Id call them as soon as you get it and see what they say, maybe they can fit you in.
If you do not get it, maybe they will put you on Provera to bring it on so youre not waiting for it to come.

I agree...def call the RE when AF comes cause they may have a cancellation or be able to possibly fit you in...I did that with my RE and got moved up a day or so cause I thought I would miss a cycle start so you may get lucky!!! Good luck!!!

thanks ladies! that sounds like good advice! If anything, maybe they'll tell me to go for the bloodwork my gyn. prescribed if they can't fit me in.

It just so happened that my first meeting for IUI was on day 3 at 10:30 in the morning. I missed monitoring by a couple of hours and RE said I had to sit the whole cycle out. And yes, I begged and begged, and called later and begged some more. So I would do whatever you can to work it out ahead of time.
