Mystic, CT - We just booked! Anyone been??

We just booked a two night winter getaway at this cute B&B called The Whaler's Inn. A few questions... for those who have been, did you take the Port Jeff Ferry?? Also, just wondering who else has been to Mystic or maybe to this particular B&B. Any feedback or suggestions as to where to eat? Also, any recs on what to do? We are going to the aquarium and we might want to check out a lighthouse or a vineyard/wine tasting. TIA for the info!!

Our Room:

The most requested of all the Inn’s buildings, the Hoxie House, is located on the corner of the property overlooking the Mystic River and Historic Downtown and houses our Deluxe guestrooms. Rooms in the Hoxie House are located on the 2nd & 3rd level overlooking the water (for adults only). Each room has a bathroom with a large whirlpool tub and oversized pedestal sink. This building houses corner rooms with a Queen Size bed, gas-fireplace, leather love seat & built-in desk.

I'm excited! I have to admit, while we were thinking of going away just for a few nights someplace local I was not sure WHERE to go until I saw Kourtney and Kim Take New York (LOL) and they showed Kourt, Kim, and Mason going to this B&B and staying there So, yeah I did get the idea from the show lol but it is a really cute place! We are staying in the room Kourtney and Mason stayed in lol.

Hahaha, I saw that episode!

We love Mystic! Never been there in the winter though.

Last time we ate at S & P Oyster company: it was super delicious and the restaurant is beautiful.

We use to love Steak Loft but I think it has been going downhill. although their baked potatoes are the best I have ever had!

We go to Mystic ALL THE TIME!! It's our little getaway place. It's actually where we got engaged. S & P Oyster House is great. We were very disappointed in Latitude 41. The food has definitely gone downhill. There is a little take out place called Cove Clam Shack. It literally is a shack, but the food is great (especially the NE Clam Chowder) There are a bunch of wineries in the area, just not sure of their winter hours. There is a cafe called Somewhere in Time, they have AMAZING breakfast. We have never stayed at the Inn, but I have heard great things about it. We usually take the ferry from Orient Point, this way it's only about a 20 minute drive once weget to CT. FM me if you have any questions... and HAVE FUN!!!

I second S&P Oyster Co. The aquarium is also great. Ye Olde Mistick is kind of a tourist trap, but we have fun shopping there.

We drive, don't take ferry and stop in New Haven for some "apizza" from Pepe's

The aquarium is relatively small. There are discounts if you buy admission for both the aquairum and seaport. I like both places, but prefer the seaport. Old Mystic Village is cute to walk around too. I don't think the casinos are too far from there if you wanted to check them out.

Whaler's Inn has a great reputation. Google select registry (it's an organization of small hotels) and get their book. I believe Whaler's is part of the group. Then you get the postcard in the back and get the hotel to stamp it for you. when you stay at 3 select registry hotels you get a discount or amenity.
