It really depends on the child. My son is just over 2, and I couldn't see him doing it. He's be calling for mommy and not be too great at following directions. I know some children that can though, so it just depends.

Re: Is a 2 and 1/2 year old...
My niece was a 1 1/2 at my wedding and she went down with my sister walking next to her, so I'm guessing at that age 2 1/2 he should be fine to walk down alone.

I can only sepak for mine who is 2 1/4, but I doubt he would even go down the aisle with everyone looking at him. After that he would be running all over the church and under the pews. BTDT

Jeremy will be 2 1/2 at my brothers wedding next year. I think he will be ok but like the wedding I was in in May where 2 kids had to be carried down the aisle... its all about the child.

Re: Is a 2 and 1/2 year old...
2.5 years is fine. The big thing is to alter the nap time around the wedding. My son was just a little over 2 when my SIL got married. I kept him up later then night before, put him down for an earlier nap so that he would walk down the aisle.
eta. I was in the bridal party. I went down the aisle before him. My dad held him at the top of the aisle & then pointed at me. We practiced walking down the aisle slowly the week before. He did fine until the end then he ran into my arms.

I think it depends on the child. My Daughter is 28 months as was recently in a wedding as a flower girl. she did excellent at the reherseal and clammed up at the wedding. As a parent it was very stressful having her in the wedding for us.

Re: Is a 2 and 1/2 year old...
My son was in my bil's wedding a couple of weeks ago. He is two and a half. He cried that he wanted me and never walked up the aisle. I was not in the wedding and he is a big mamma's boy. I think if he could have followed me up the aisle it would have helped. He was also very cranky, would not take a nap, and I had to take him out of the church so he wouldn't interrupt the ceremony. My nephew who is three walked up the aisle by himself and was fine in the church. But it was also his dad getting married so I think that made a huge difference. Every child is different so it is hard to tell.

Gianna was just in my brother's wedding 7/3 she was 17 months and she walked down the isle like a pro...she also fell into the flowerpot when she turned around She will be in my BIL's wedding 9/9 and she will be 19 months so we shall see how she does than. I think 2 1/2 is a good age he should do fine

Re: Is a 2 and 1/2 year old...
My RB was 21 months old. He did great at the RD (my FG was 4.5 and held his hand down the aisle). But....at the wedding he wouldn't walk and when his dad (my BIL) came walking up the aisle urging him to walk he ran to him and refused to walk anymore.
It was adorable, our pictures are great, everyone laughed and thought he was the cutest thing!

Re: Is a 2 and 1/2 year old...
I think it will be fine. My neice was just turned three and my ring bearer was 2.5 years old and they did great. He was also in love with my neice so it was easy for him to walk down the isle. If you are in the wedding party a good suggestion may be to be the last one to walk down before him that way he is following mommy.
