Re: Ok let me rephrase for those that care

no one can judge your lining if
A. we aren't 10000% sure where you are in your cycle (exact DPO or how close you are to ovulation if its pre-O) - cannot evaluate without proper data
B. we don't know what the lining was like prior to ovulation

this is simply because a 5.3 could be great if you are building up towards ovulation (ex. you got AF, its over, you are making follies for your next ovulation that won't come for another week or so).

a 5.3 could be pretty thin if you are ovulating tomorrow.

a 5.3 could be as good as it gets for you if you just ovulated and prior readings were thinner.

but basically what everyone is saying is that if you still have 7 days until your expected AF:
1. it appears to be very thin if you did ovulate (in a very general sense, the estrogen required for follie production for ovulation would produce a thicker lining if indeed you ovulated)
2. it is strange to have an RE evaluate and give a thickness at that point in your cycle because there is nothing to compare it to prior to ovulation. it's just uncommon that's all.

no one was trying to be snarky. i apologize if anything i posted seemed that way. we are all just giving our opinions and advice based on our own past experience.

for me, i almost never had lining issues. my lining around ovulation was almost always in the 8s. during my IVF it was over a 10. but again i never got a post-ovulation lining number but i would assume until you are ready for AF the lining stays pretty thick or gets thicker.. it generally does not start to thin out until around AF unless progesterone is low. and low progesterone can cause spotting.

Re: Ok let me rephrase for those that care

Thanks - thats the info I was looking for. I don't think the nurse was trying to do anything but comment that since i was there to see if i should start clomid that this was the thin lining they would be looking for to start. But then it turned out that my hormones did not match that thought. So then I started wondering what it meant that my hormones are up and my lining is thin. then I started wondering how thin is 5.3 and so I asked the people who might know.

Re: Ok let me rephrase for those that care

I'm sorry, I'm still taken aback by your subject line, "let me rephrase for those that care" ... Just we're both on the same page, anyone (including myself) who responded to your earlier post does care. Otherwise, we wouldn't have taken the time to respond. I don't know who or what post you are referring to, but I can assure you there was no snakiness or malicious motives in anyone's response. This is the dynamic of a message board and what you could expect if you are asking random strangers to help diagnose your problems.
You may not always get the answer you are looking for (that you're lining is perfect and you are just seconds away from a bfp.. because I know we would ALL like to hear that.. trust me on that.. ) but all we could do is speak from experience.
