Working Moms that travel....
Do any of you have jobs that require a lot of travel? I'm considering a job that would require me to be gone (on average) Mon-Thurs 2-3 weeks/month. On the flip side, I'd get to work from home on Fridays.... We don't have any children yet, but are going to TTC soon, so it could be only a year or so until we have a baby. And, my DH works long hours so that makes things hard. If I keep my current job, I'm gone from 7am to 7pm M-F and bring home a lot of stress. TIA!

Both my husband and I travel...not at the same exact time. I do limited travel now..I used to travel A LOT more but now that I have Molly I do limit it though. How often will you have to travel? How long are each trips?

We have talked about getting a nanny (our neighbors have one and it works out great). But, we couldn't have a nanny stay until 10 or 11 pm if my DH worked late. So many things come to mind when TTC!

Re: Working Moms that travel....
I personally couldn't do it which is why I passed up even interviewing for a promotion that required travel once a month to once every other month. I think every mom is different and every situation is different and you have to really weigh the pros and cons of both and overall what would be best for your family. Working from home with a baby isn't easy. I can't get much done so if I had to work from home I would need in house help or DD would have to go to daycare. Good Luck on making a decision.

I think it would be tough..emotionally and logistically. Would you consider having an au pair or a live in nanny?

Re: Working Moms that travel....
I am! I have a step-daughter who is ten (she lives with us) and I am currently preggo. My DH stays home with his daughter...and soon the baby, so we don't have schedules to worry about. We also don't have family in the area to rely on (we live in NJ and family lives on LI). So far...being preggo, it's been tough...but not terrible. I travel every other week (down from every week when I first started). So..the weeks I'm not traveling, I work from home. I'm not sure how things will be once the baby is born...but I'm sure it will all work out somehow

Re: Working Moms that travel....
Thank you everyone! Not sure what we'll do. I'm unhappy in my current work situation and need to move on to something new. I think I will move forward with this, then see what happens in the future. As of now we aren't preggo and have no kids so I feel like I could always change jobs in 2 years if need be. Thanks!
