ICSI question
Hi girls, I am so confused!! I know what ICSI is for, but what if there aren't any issues? The financial office called me and said if DH fish are good, then I am not covered. So if they are good why would they be thinking that I would need it? and pay OOP?
I am sooo confused. He already had 1 SA, and the boys were good!

Re: ICSI question
they sometimes like to do 1/2 of the eggs with ICSI and 1/2 without to increase your odds of getting good embryos. Your RE probably just recommending doing it but you dont have to do it. You should discuss with your RE or nurse about why they requested ICSI.

Re: ICSI question
Def discuss it with your RE. Some say that since IVF is diagnostic, it can tell i fthere are other issues. For example, if you make follicles/eggs that cannot be penetrated by a sperm, ICSI will combat that by directly inserting it into your egg. Without doing IVF, you would never know if this is an issue. If you decide not to do ICSI and learn later that your eggs were not fertilized, you may have wanted to give ICSI a try but at that point its too late.
I would DEF speak to your RE directly about that decision. Good luck!

Re: ICSI question
It's possible that the day of your procedure he won't have a good sample. In those cases, they will prefer to do ICSI. You can also choose to have a sample frozen ahead of time in case his fresh sample isn't as good as they'd like. You'd have the frozen sample as backup instead of ICSI. It's your personal preference.
