B2B IUI's

Do you think there is any benefit in doing this if DH has NO issues?

I just feel like because we're (excuse the pun) "putting all of our eggs in one basket" with this IUI since we're paying OOP it might make sense to just go for a B2B IUI since it would only cost us another $150. I figured it couldn't hurt, right? What do you guys think?

Re: B2B IUI's

I've done them, and gotten pregnant from them. I'm not sure, but I've read that it doesnt make a difference statistically whether you do one or two. Also, I think the stats arent much higher for IUIs than TI when you dont have MF issues. That said, I'd opt for the second one because I'd want to know I'm doing absolutely everything I can to get pg. GL

Eh, regardless of the stats, I'd do it anyway. It can't hurt.

Re: B2B IUI's

Thanks!! That is sorta how I feel about, I know it's probably not "necessary" and in the end it probably won't make a huge difference but it can't hurt either. I feel like I want to sit back when this is all done and be able to say, "I did EVERYTHING I could this cycle from meds to monitoring, to losing weight to the IUI's". I just want to cover my bases.

Plus, if nothing else, having the extra IUI takes a little pressure off having to Chat Icon Chat Icon after the first IUI. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

How is it only $150 for an extra IUI? I am trying to find out what it is out of pocket, as my insurance only covers a few IUIs per year.

I go to RSONY. They have something called the "Global IUI" for those that have exhausted their IF coverage, such is the case with us. You pay one price, ($800, $1400, or $2250) and it covers ALL of your monitoring, office visits, blood work, and betas (if you get pregnant). The way it was explained to me was the basically "throw in" the IUI for free, you're really paying for the monitoring and office visits. They said if I wanted to do a B2B IUI it would normally cost $300 for an IUI but they give a 50% discount since you're paying for the Global IUI and it would cost me only $150 if I wanted to do the extra IUI. That's why I am considering it.

FYI - If you were doing an IUI cycle with just oral meds like Clomid your IUI would be $800. Because I am doing an injectable cycle (meds are NOT included) I had to pay $1400.

I am a patient there. So are these prices for one cycle? What if your insurance will cover bloodwork and sono? Is there a fee for just the sperm wash and the procedure without the bloodwork and sonos?

I believe that the Global IUI is for people, like me, have no more insurance coverage at all. It's suppose to be an affordable way to do one IUI cycle. If part of your cycle will be covered by insurance I would imagine that they would just bill you for what is not covered. Call Danielle, she is the billing person, and double check with her. She's in both the Stony Brook and Mineola offices and usually works from 7 to 11 am. Chat Icon
