Bye bye baby food?

Seriously- im so tired of wearing turkey and sweet potatoes, and my white ceramic tile floor is not a fan of turkey and rice.....

Ryan wants NOTHING to do with these things....

The ONLY jarred food he will eat is fruit... other than that- he wants no part of it!

It not even about feeding himself... he just plain ol' dosent like it!

So my question is @ what age can I nix it??? amd if I stop fighting this great fight... how much table food (on avg.) should he be eating in a sitting??? Is it necessary for him to have a meat and veg. @ every meal?????

He's a big fan of grilled cheese and french toast- between that and the pasta pickup raviolis- I feel like thats all he eats!!!

(Yes- when I asked DH what DS had for breakfast this morning- his reply- grilled cheese... when I asked why- his answer- because he wanted it Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon )

I think it's fine to start now. There really isn't anything special about baby food except that it's easy to eat. If he eats table food then go for it. I keep introducing more and more finger foods to Miranda because I'm sick of the mess and she insists on having her own spoon so you can only imagine! Chat Icon

He should do fine. Just take it slow and see what he does well with and what he doesn't.

Both of my kids have been on complete table food by 9 months.

I keep baby food around still so that I can help balance her meals a bit more. It isn't necessary, but its an easy way for me to get a fruit or veggie into her when she is otherwise only picking up bread from her tray.

Re: Bye bye baby food?

marissa - I wouldn't worry - Talia NEVER ate baby food and she is growing just fine.

Here are the rules that i made up and follow (dont know if they are right - but it works for me)

I go by the color rule...three different colors at every meal...

so usually that will include a protien, fruit/veggie and a starch.

For example
Turkey hot dog - red
carrots - orange
wheat bread - brown

or

Mac and Cheese
String Beans
Banana

or

Potato pancake
Chicken
Asparagus

something like that- this way she gets her greens, orange veggies, etc....
(I hope this makes sense outside my head!)Chat Icon

Re: Bye bye baby food?

oh I also want to say I make things for her - like for example turkey meatballs...

when I make them I shred veggies REALLY small - and put them in the recipe, this way she is eating them and doesn't even know!

Emily hasn't eaten babyfood at all this summer. It is OK to nix it and start on the big people food.
