Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

I'm looking for a stove, fridge and dishwasher.

And I'm getting so confused. I wend to PC Richards to see them and they really didn't have much on the floor.

Then I wend to Lowes and Home Depot to compare in person and they both carry some but not all brands.

Do you match them by brand? or do you buy what you like, even if they don't match in brand name?

Which brand is best? Or are they all them same except for price and look?

I seem to like LG, but Lowes seem to have alot of Samsung. Is Samsung good?--I've never heard of them for kitchen appliances, I know them for TVs and stuff like that.

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

I just purchased new kitchen appliances in November. I went to
PC Richards
Home Depot
Lowes
Uneida
Sears

on line I looked at
AJMadison.com
Buy.com

I ended up purchasing from PC Richards because they price matched the on line prices I found and they installed a junction box (new outlet in a cabinet) I needed. All of the other big box stores would have required me to hire a separate electrician to have the new outlet installed. They also gave me the best prices.

As for research, I bought the Consumer Reports kitchen guide. The thing I realized was that what was in the guide was last years models. So while it did give reliability guides (helpful) the specific models that they reviewed were already out of date by 6 months.

I would go in knowing a few things:
1. the size of your space (if it is a gut job you have a lot more flexibility than fitting items to preexisting space requirements).
2. your budget.
3. finish preferences.
4. brand preferences.
5. feature preferences.

What is your most important features to you? I personally feel that the stove/oven is the most important item in a kitchen because it will have the largest impact on how your cooking and food come out. Then I want a fridge that works well, and a microwave and dishwasher that work.

Do you need a double oven or will a single oven work? Do you make a big turkey and need space? How many burners do you want? I got a 5th burner griddle thing, but honestly I don't use it. I also got a second oven and that is nice to have.

As for brands - just know the mid grade brand for GE at Home Depot is called Aura and that is just for HD. You can get the exact same one for a lot less if you look around.

I really loved the features on the AJ Madison website for comparing different brands.

In the end we went with mid grade GE appliances and an LG refrigerator.

Try going to Two Guys in Lake Grove
We got our SS set from them. They are
great to work with, understand your budget, and is family owned. Our SS set was a major purchase, and they made it so easy and helped us get alot of rebates back. Highly recommend Two Guys Appliances Chat Icon

Thanks that's helpful.

Yeah 1 oven and 4 burners is fine with me. I feel the same way about the 5th burner.

I like GE and LG too.

But I see alot of Samsung and Frigidaire are they good as kitchen appliances? I know them as other appliances like TVs and ACs..

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

We got our LG fridge from Best Buy, and our LG Dishwasher from PC Richard.

I'm happy with both appliances.

I don't necessarily have to match all the appliances, it just happens that I liked both of these styles at the time. When we do our stove(s) they may not be LG, I have no idea.

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

Brand depends on what you are buying. There isn't a single brand that I like "everything".

For instance I like Samsung refrigerators, but their dishwashers aren't so hot.

I like KitchenAid dishwashers, but their refrigerators are very blah.

I had a lot of issues with my former GE dishwasher.

I have the Sharp under counter microwave which is nice. I am not sure how their regular over the stove microwaves are.

I have a Wolf stove so I haven't really researched any other stove brands.

Whatever you do, don't buy Kenmore appliances from Sears. I swear... every appliance that we bought from there has given us issues.

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

I have the GE Profile line in ss which I bought from PC Richard in May. We have a big French door refrigerator, 5 burner stove with convection oven and warming drawer, our dishwasher which has a as inside and works amazingly, the hood, and microwave. I picked the appliances based on ratings out of a catalogue then went to a small retailer who gave me a good deal then I took the price to pc. They beat the price. We got all of the pieces for $4300 plus got a ge rebate for $500. It was a great deal.

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

I ended up getting Samsung appliances -- all 3. They look good and were delivered very nicely from PC Richards--so far no problems.

Only one little thing--the range has a broil option, but no broiler panChat Icon --I pick one up in Bed Bath and Beyond, right--they have them?

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

I had the same issue with my new GE appliances. I should have kept my old broiler pan. I wish I knew. I just use a regular cookie sheet with some inserts from my toaster oven to raise everything to one level.

I heard some negative things about Kenmore dishwasher causing fires very recently. I believe Whirlpool also makes things under the Kenmore name so be careful of both...

I was in the same predicament as you recently when shopping for appliances. There are so many brands and models!

I finally ended up getting all 4 of my appliances in the Frigidaire Professional line because I love the smudgeless feature and wanted the appliances to match. It also just so happen that all the appliances in the FP are well reviewed and there was a buy 3 get dishwasher free deal when I bought it last December.

So far I've had them several weeks and love 'em all.

The dishwasher is real quiet (so much so that my husband complains he doesn't know it's running!). The fridge holds alot considering it's a counter depth and it also gives off a sound if the door is not completely closed. The range is convection and has a power burner that boils water real fast!

Re: Kitchen Appliances - which do you like and why?

Two years ago I replaced my stove - we bought a Kenmore. Last year I replaced the dishwasher - we bought a Kenmore. We also replaced the washer and dryer last year - we bought Maytag front loaders. This year we are getting a new fridge. I've been making myself nuts because the fridge I LOVE has the hinges on the wrong side and they are not reversible. I am currently debating between the Consumer Reports top rated GE side by side, and the top rated top freezer. Incidentally, they are both the top rated refrigerator - not just the top rated GE.
