Anyone on a PCOS diet?
Since my last crazy post DH and I put the adoption/donor thing on hold till summer.
We are focusing on the PCOS and hope to either do IUI/IVF again after focusing on egg quality for the next few months.
Any suggestions for what not to eat? I heard limit dairy and sugars anything else?
I have my metformin and started DHEA

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
It's basically low carb but there may be more to it. I don't have pcos but I wanted to get the book. I can't find it anywhere though.

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
I am on one. I go to a group for PCOS girls... low low carB... high protein.
50 cal for breakfast 100 cal for lunch and dinner
No LOW FAT anything...worried more about the sugar than then fat for PCOS.
I have learned so much.

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
just went to B&N picked up PCOS and your fertility book.
It gives a 7 day boost menu and other ideas do you mean 50 carb calories for bfast and 100 for lunch and dinner..is that all you eat all day?
do you eat fruit? it says you can but in limitation.

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
Yes I meant carbs sorry!!!
No fruit---maybe for dessert. Fruit has a lot of sugar which is our enemy. She said no fruit juice either....which I love!

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
It is low-carb. I would seriously try it. Do they still have the core diet at weight watchers?

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
Someone I know was given this diet. I had been on this back in 2008 and lost 52lbs. Then, I heard through my bff is on it for PCOS. Go figure!

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
BTW the nutritionist I see said WW is a diet, not a way of life, and WW counts calories which we need to watch sugar and carbs not so much calories.
I think it is interesting!

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
Low GI (Glycemic Index) is excellent for PCOS. In addition, you should avaoid as much processed foods as possible and also artifical sweetners (there are some studies that suggest they can de-sensitize your own testostorone senors and casue you to produce more). Also, Ihad surgery that basically "fixed" my ovaries and gave me excellent egg quality. Almost 8 months pp and I am still getting regular periods (after years of nadda). FM if you want more info.

Re: Anyone on a PCOS diet?
You should really meet with a nurtitionist. I read the PCOS Diet Book but it was much more helpful to sit down with someone one to one. You can eat fruits, because they are very good for us. Two very important things is never skipping a meal and to eat balanced meals. Its recommend to have fruit with breakfast, but I have to have some sort of protein with it to break down the sugar from the fruit.
