WWYD: Contractor Related
Some of you may remember of me mentioning that my contractor's guys threw out my 1 yo. stainless steel dishwasher during the demo phase...
Well, my kitchen remodel is coming to an end and I'm debating whether to bring it up 'cus I actually bought a 4 piece appliances package deal and got a dishwasher free.
Also, my contractor has been amazing so far. We made a mistake with ordering the wrong depth cabinets for one wall, and my contractor had to move 2 doorways to accommodate the wrong depths. The extra work took a full day for 4 guys.
He didn't even mention charging me extra for doing that extra day's worth of work. And he's also been very attentive and detail-oriented with the work that's been done so far.
In light of this, would you even bring up the subject of reimbursement for the damaged dishwasher?
TIA

I wouldn't - sounds like a wash.

I would only mention the dishwasher if he brings up the wall. Chances are it will be a wash in price.

If everything else went smoothly and he did this extra for you, I don't think you should mention it.
However, he might sitll charge you for the change in the wall.
I doubt its a wash in price. dishwasher brand new for 300-500.
4 guys for a day is probably closer to $1000 or more

I wouldn't bring it up now. The time to bring it up would have been right after it happened, asking where the dishwasher was being stored since that was supposed to be reinstalled. Since you got one included in your appliance package anyway you probably would have ended up getting rid of the other one yourself and it wouldn't have had much value as a used appliance.

Thanks all, we did bring it up when it happened. He got so upset over what happened that he just walked out in a huff and later asked me how much it cost. I think it was his intention to replace it or reimburse me for it.
I'm leaning towards not bringing it up 'cus he's been so great. In fact, he even went backsplash shopping with me after work hours 'cus he wanted to make sure I made the right choice and get the right amount of tiles. How great is that?
