crock pot question

can you prepare the stuff in the crockpot the night before, and leave it in the fridge?

Re: crock pot question

i think it is recommended NOT to put the ceramic crock in the fridge.... it could break going from so cold to so hot.

I often prepare everything and put it in a tupperware bowl the night before and tehn dump it in the pot in the morning. HTH!

Re: crock pot question

You cab but you should leave your crock out to warm up first b/c a cold crock can crack as it gets heated. That said I am sure many people have done straight from fridge to plug in without an issue.

Re: crock pot question

Ive done straight from the frigde to the crockpot .. I wanted to marinate the meat overnight so I put it in the crockpot dish and put it in the fridge. Next a.m. before I went to work I just put it in and turned it on...

I never thought about it cracking .. Im glad it didnt!

I don't know but I've never done it. If I prep the night before, it's usually chopping stuff, and then I put it in a ziplock bag in the fridge overnight and dump it in with whatever else in the morning.

I have done that and I guess luckily it has never cracked. I would think since it is slowly heating up it should be okay - plus it is not that cold in the fridge.

ETA: I checked the crockpot website and they said it is fine.

Thanks for checking! That is just something I had heard. I think I will start doing this then!

Yes, I do it all the time. I just let it warm up a bit before turning it on.
