May is perfect!! The crowds are very managable since most schools are still in session. The weather is warm but it's not too humid so it's perfect for walking around and for swimming. EPCOT has their annual Flower Show which is pretty cool.

Re: Disney in may? Criwded and warm?
I haven't been in May, but I've been for the first week of June. it was moderately crowded and some days were VERY hot, but I have heard May is better in terms of crowds and weather. The 2nd week of May is the least crowded according to the crowd calendar.
As long as you use RD and FP well and take afternoon breaks if it gets hot, I think you can have a good time.
We're thinking of taking another early June trip for SWW. If we do, we definitely want to do as I said, make sure we're there for rope drop and take swim breaks in the hot middle of the day. It's not a time when you want to get to the parks at 11, for both crowds and weather.

Re: Disney in may? Criwded and warm?
I've gone several times in May - usually the week before Memorial Day. In May of 2010, it was incredibly HOT! It was warm here too though.
In May of 2009 it was PERFECT. Not too hot, no humidity, sunny, etc.
We are going again this year the first/second week of May.
Crowds aren't bad either. It's a great time to go.

Re: Disney in may? Criwded and warm?
Depends on when in May? It is a pretty good time to go. I would say to avoid Memorial day if you can though.
We went end of April the beginning of May in 2004. It was perfect. Mid 80s everyday - little to no rain, almost no wait for rides. The flower and garden festival was going on. Which I wouldn't go for - but it was nice to walk around and see some of the elaborate displays.
We went May 15-24th for DD#2's 1st birthday in 2010. It was very different- but we still had a good time. Much harder to get dining reservations. It was still quiet but much more crowded than our 1st vacation in May. Waits were 15-20 mins rather than 5-10 - so not too horrible. The weather was HOT though - think lower 90s many days upper 80s. It only rained 2 times for about 5-10 mins the whole time we were there though. I would still go this week but it was definitely more crowded than early May.
Keep it mind that it is Star Wars weekends in May - so HS can be very crowded on the weekends.

Our preference is the beginning of May - nice weather but not too hot, Flower & Garden show at Epcot, and the crowds are still very manageable.
We spent Mother's Day 2011 at Port Orleans - French Quarter trying out the newly refurbished rooms. Just perfect... :)

Re: Disney in may? Criwded and warm?
We went in May back in 2002 (week before memorial Day) and we had the best week as far as weather and crowds.
Hardly lines and the weather was a perfecr 78-82 the whole week.
Just beautiful.
Friends of ours went this past May (beginning of May) and it was high 90s every day they said.

We went the week before Memorial Day last year. It was hot..high 90's. We only went to Magic Kingdom and it was pretty crowded. I would definitely go the beginning of May.

Re: Disney in may? Criwded and warm?
I was there in mid may 2010. It poured the first day we were there and it brought in a cold front. The weather was perfect! low-mid 80's and little humidity. Right after we left it got really really hot.

Re: Disney in may? Criwded and warm?
May is a great time. It will be more crowded closer to the end of the month as more southern school go on summer break and with memorial day week. But the beginning of May is great. We went mid May in 2010 and had a great trip. I would go without hesitation again.
Epcot has a nice flower and garden show with some fun displays. But be careful with HS on weekends later in the month because they have Star Wars weekends and it can get crowded at that park.
Weather was good - we went 1st week back in 04 and had almost no rain and 80 degree days. Gorgeous with little to no crowds. Mid May of 2010 though was more crowded but totally manageable - the weather was VERY hot though think 90-92 almost every day but it only rained 2 times for about 5 mins and it didn't have any effect on our trip.
