Rocky Point?

Is this still a good area? Last I remember it had decent schools and was safe, but I've been finding houses there for under 300k and they actually look NICE. Any input?

Re: Rocky Point?

From what I know it's a nice area. I think the houses are so inexpensive because it's pretty far out on the island, so it's not convenient for a lot of people.

Re: Rocky Point?

From what I've heard, many of the homes used to be beach cottages so are smaller, but I love the area. We are looking out there, but I really want Miller Place schools (they were voted top 1 or 2 district in Suffolk) so we are looking in Sound Beach/Miller Place schools, which is also affordable (most not under $300, but many in the 350-400 range).

Re: Rocky Point?

My sister lives in Rocky Point and LOVES it! It is such a nice area. I would live there if it wasn't so far out (I work in Brooklyn.)

Re: Rocky Point?

My sister lives there. I know she likes the area! The only negative I can see if some areas have steep hills.
You can FM her if you want more info: Michelle1123. She is a member on here but sticks to the pregnancy/parenting boards mostly!

Re: Rocky Point?

we just moved here last year... so far so good... it was one of the few areas with a good sd that we were able to afford... we looked at a TON of houses... a lot are crap... but there are definitely a bunch of good ones!! We found a nice flat piece of property before all the hills start... which can be pretty steep... but not something we have to deal with!

King Road is not a bad area...that's so bizarre, where did you hear that?

I grew up in RP, went to the school district, my parents still live there. As Beth said, a lot of the houses were once beach cottages, so they are tiny, and there are quite a lot of hills in certain parts which are bad in snow and sometimes flood. But all in all it's a really nice area with good schools, easy access to the LIE.

If you have any questions FM me!

Re: Rocky Point?

when i was living there last yr we looked at lots of houses on kings rd and noticed alot of that block was run down and my grandpas bus route was that rd and said that his kids had all social workers because there parents were drug dealers so i know as of last yr that block wasnt so good.
