Washing machine ?

Before I say something to my husband...I want to ask you guys.. We just moved in, in May so I'm not sure if something is not working correctly or my husband is just using too much detergent (which I know he does anyway but not sure if thats the real reason for this happening). this is our first house so in our apt, i didnt care about the lndry rm machine obviously so never paid attention.

When the wash is done, i open the top to find that there is loads of detergent sitting in the inner ring (like above the clothes)...and of course its now running down onto the clean clothes.

he likes tide which is blue, i use All which is clear and i use the proper amount so I cant tell if it happens when I wash as well. he says he is now, using the proper amount the last time i asked but its still happening.

anyone know if this sounds just normal with some machines, if its overuse of detergent or something is definatley not working correctly

It sounds like it is a combination of too much clothes in the washer and to much detergent. I would try and do a small load and correct amount and see what happens.
