How do you know how much & when & who to pay taxes?
in Nassau. I just bought my first home in Massapequa and was told that my taxes would be due on January 1st, but have no idea how much or where to send the $$$. Oye. Please help! And, Happy New Years!

Ours gets paid with our mortgage but if yours is not, you should go see the receiver of taxes for your town...

Call the ofice of James stefanich (look up on oyster bay site) the taxes are truly due feb 10 (give u a grace period)

If they are escrowed, you do not need to worry about paying them - your mortgage company pays them for you.

The taxes become due on January 2 and will be considered late after February 10. If you just closed, were they prepaid at closing? Sometimes your bank (or title company) will require that even if they are not paid with your mortgage payment.
Be prepared for a lot of busy signals on Tuesday when you call - the Receiver gets slammed with people calling the first couple of days after tax bills go out.

If you just closed, were they prepaid at closing? Sometimes your bank (or title company) will require that even if they are not paid with your mortgage payment.
I'm in Suffolk but we closed in October and even though taxes weren't due yet, we had to put in more money at closing to be put into escrow so that way we weren't slammed with a tax bill 2 months later. We even got a refund since the taxes were overestimated.
