Oil to Gas
I called National Grid to see about switching for next season.
The closest line to us is 266 feet away so that comes to $11,059 for us to get the line to our house. 
Are they INSANE? 
They said the reason it isn't free to run the lines anymore is bc people used to get them run and then not use the service and they had to eat that. They offer 100 feet free. anything over that, you pay.
Unreal. Guess it's Oil and Propane until someone 100 feet from me gets natural gas

Yikes that sucks--but I guess they do have a valid reason.
Maybe you can see if any nextdoor neighbors are considering the switch and split the cost to get the line to your houses?
