Living Room/Family Room furniture
Wherever you gather to watch TV...how much seating do you have?
Couch, love seat recliner Couch & love seat or Couch and Recliner
I'm trying to make more room in our living room esp since we are expecting and I was thinking of getting rid of out love seat and getting DH a recliner but I'm worried about that one additonal seat.

Re: Living Room/Family Room furniture
We watch TV in the family room/den... I have a small sectional that can seat 4-5, and I have a leather storage ottoman that can be used as seating and houses two additional matching seating cubes in it that we take out as needed. We usually bring in extra chairs (folding chairs) when hosting a larger gathering.
It was hard to bring in more seating because one wall of my family room is a fireplace and the opposite wall from that has the staircase leading up to the main level and doors to the basement, storage closet, and half bath. The wall with our TV has the garage door next to it. So there wasn't a lot of space for large pieces of furniture. I didn't want to make the room too small or overcrowded.
We entertain a lot and it's worked out ok for us --we also have a finished basement with a TV, and even though there's no TV upstairs, a lot of people hang in our formal living and dining rooms during a party. So people tend to spread out when there's a lot of them over at our house. But the family room is our every day hang out space and it's really cozy and functional for that purpose.

Re: Living Room/Family Room furniture
Living room: couch that seats 3 and a recliner
Den/Family Room: We have a sectional. I'd say that could seat around 5-6 adults.

Re: Living Room/Family Room furniture
Our den/family room is really long and narrow. We have a small sectional with a chaise at the end, and a barrel chair.
ETA: we can comfortably seat 5-6.
Our living room, which is more formal, and has no TV, has a sofa and love seat. Seats 5.

Re: Living Room/Family Room furniture
we watch TV in the family room (small). It has one 3 seater couch right now, and an ottoman. DS sits in his little pottery barn chair.
I might get an accent chair as time goes on.
Our living room has a 3 seater couch and 2 chairs...but we don't watch TV in there.

Re: Living Room/Family Room furniture
LR - couch, love seat and rocker recliner... all but 1 seat reclines... can get 4 on the couch... so total of 7 adults. we also can pull over dining room chairs for a couple more. Area rug where the kids play and some adults end up sitting with their kids.
basement - couch, love seat and rocker recliner.... can fit 7 adults as well 3 bar stools at the bar. can fit more folding chairs, and people are usually playing darts or shuffleboard anyway..or sitting on the carpet with their kids too!
disclaimer: we entertain ALOT!
