First Appt at RMA

I made an appt at RMA (Manhattan) for early January..what happens during the first visit, is it just a consultation with the DR or do you get an exam, or both?

I am 34 and it's been almost a year with no luck so far. DH is getting an SA next week as well.

Normally you talk, they might do bood work and a sono. But unless you are beginning a med cycle then, I seem to think the sono is so they can bill ins.

I am with RMA of CT. My consult, we did blood work, sono, I spoke to my patient coordinator and the finance manager. We went over my medical history and setup a protocol for that cycle, Clomid+IUI. It lasted about 2 hours. GL!

I go to RMA NY as well. Who is your Dr?

First piece of advice is fill out of your intake paperwork at home ahead of time. Otherwise, they ask you to come in 45 mins early.

My first appt - first we met the the dr in his office and talked. I had b/w sent from my gyno and DH is already under a urologist's care (SA done) so we had a little history to review. Then he did an ultrasound and came up with a basic plan, pending all of the below...

Most likely you will then meet with your coordinator. She will review all of the testing you and DH will need to get, review all the paperwork you'll need for treatment.

Then you meet with someone from finance to go over insurance and costs.

You and your husband can start your blood panels. It probably takes at least 2 visits to get all of this.

Then you make any follow-up appts (I had to get a pap, STD testing, genetic panels, a saline sonogram, etc).

For the first appt, I took the day off of work so I didn't feel rushed. We were there for somewhere b/w 2 and 3 hours. They are great there and let you ask as many questions for as long as you need. DH also sees the urologist there so my RE consulted with the urologist while we were there and they both came up with a plan while we were there. It's a really great office and I wish you all the best! Let me know if you have any other questions.

At my RMA consult he did an ultrasound on the 3d machine...was pretty cool. I can't remember if they took blood then for the 5,000 tests they ran or later, but that happens pretty much right away too.

GL!

Thank you for the info - very helpful!!Good to know it will take that long...maybe I will take a personal day.

I am seeing Dr. Mukherjee - he was recommended to me by 2 diff ppl.

DH definitely has to come, right? He sees his own urologist as well.

DH doesn't HAVE to come but it's better if he does. He had some bloodwork done that day as well. Plus, you will get A LOT of information, if the Dr is ready to come up with your plan, so the extra set of ears is helpful.

For us, we're dealing strictly with sever MFI so my first appt with RMA was early Dec and as soon as AF comes (hopefully in the next few days!!!) we're starting IVF. Are you dealing with MFI?

Not sure yet...but DH has his own issues (ED) so it's possible. I've only had bloodwork so far and things seem normal. We're just starting with diagnostic testing and figured it was best to have it all done under 1 roof. DH gets a SA in early Jan. But, my friend who recommended RMA did IVF and was successful first try, and now has a 3 yr old DD!

i go to LI IVF and at my first appt we went over DH and I's medical history, talked about what our next steps should be, had an exam - which included pelvic exam (similiar to ob/gyn annual except no pap lol), sono and CD3 blood work. we were given alot of prescriptions to get blood work done, sa and hsg.

I go to RMA of CT. I really love them, they have been so awesome.

We were there for about 1.5 hours for our first visit. We went through a complete medical history and then the Dr sent us for more tests.

We just had a second appointment with the doctor yesterday to discuss all the results and determine the game plan.
