We went there in Feb 2009 and that is actually where we got engaged.

I should add that getting engaged was the only thrilling part of the trip. We weren't crazy about the resort..It was brand new and while it looked nice, it really had a lot of kinks to work out. Just to summarize, mosquitoes in the room where a big problem (I understand that mosquitoes are common in tropical environments but we would kill 20 a day in the room), the shower wouldn't drain, the food wasn't that good, people would hog the beach chairs early in the morning, etc.

It could have gotten better by then but I wouldn't go back. I heard good things about the Paradisus resorts in Punta Cana.

We are debating between this one and Excellence Punta Cana where we have been.

We are tempted to try something new, and ME is closer to the airport.

We really liked Excellence - except for the food which was just okay but I think that is probably to be expected with any all inclusive. We are def spoiled NY'ers when it comes to food!

I'm really starting to lean towards Excellence - others have complained about the food at ME and I feel like at Excellence, we already have some idea of what was good and what wasn't....

WE went to the Majestic Colonial for Thanksgiving. I don't know if they are similar. I liked the resort with a little minuses. The shower was terrible because of the water pressure. Service was great. food was ok. We live in nyc but I'm pretty flexible. DH didn't like the food and he thought it was kind of limited.

We went to ME in May for my brothers wedding. It is a beautoful resort but the food was just ok. I tried to stay very bland food wise on this trip because I read a lot of reviews before going about food poisioning and I did not want to deal with that. I did not like that the pool closed early I think 5 or 6pm.

The room we had was beautiful. It was in the elgance club and it was a swimup. Only problem with swimups is it is not a conventional swim up like I have seen at other hotels. OTher hotels you walk out the back door of your room and you step right into the water. This one you had to walk over grass to get into the water. There were no ladders to get in and out close to your room so really it was a pool view room not a swim up.

The staff were hit or miss. The drinks were good though but I had to have the virgin drinks since I was pregnant but everyone loved the drink called the Majestic.

We went to Majestic Elegance in 2010. The buffet was plain awful. DH liked the Argentinian steak restaurant and I thought the Italian restaurant was good. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The pools and beach were nice.

This vacation made me not want to do all inclusive again. I would rather pay more for better food and drinks.
