If you've had a D&C...

Can you please tell me what to expect? Were you in pain after? How long did you bleed for? Were there any restrictions after the procedure? When did you finally feel like yourself again? I'm having one tomorrow and am trying to mentally prepare myself. TIA Chat Icon

Re: If you've had a D&C...

I just had one. When I first woke up from it I had very bad cramps. They gave me some pain meds in my IV and I was fine a few minutes later.

I spotted very slightly afterwards for like a week or so.

The biggest issue I had with it was having sex after the allowed 10 days. It was painful when he would go too far in. Its still a little uncomfortable but getting better.

ETA: I had to get one to check for hyperplasia. Im so so sorry you are going through thisChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: If you've had a D&C...

I had a D&C around 11 weeks. I had cramps and light spotting/bleeding for about a week or so. I was back at work 2 days after...probably should have taken more time but mentally i needed a distraction.

So sorry you are going through this, please FM me if you need anything.

I had a D&C at 8.5 weeks.

General Anesthesia, Crampiness for 2 days after and bleeding for about a week (light).

Re: If you've had a D&C...

I didnt bleed at all afterwards but I had a lot of cramping, but I'm verrry sensitive. I didnt feel fine physically until about 2 weeks after but again, I have issues. For 2 weeks after no sex, no baths, no tampons, etc.

It was a relatively simple procedure for me and I was glad when it was over.
Many prayers and hugs for you!

You may or not be put to sleep. I don't want to really explain the details of what they will do, but after you will have heavy bleeding for a day or 2 then it will just be spotting possibly for a week or so. You may experience cramping after similar to AF but that too should subside in a few days. I felt normal once AF arrived again. If you want the details of the procedure you can FM me.

Re: If you've had a D&C...

Hey - I have to say it was not so bad for me. I didnt cramp or bleed at all. I did take the 800 ibprofen to be safe though. My biggest issue was with the anesthesia it did a number on my stomach and constipated me for days. If you feel this is happening def take a laxative right away, I waited too long and was in PAIN

Good luck hun!

I personally don't think it's appropriate to discuss what's done during the procedure. As someone who has gone through both a D&E and D&C.. one can only imagine. There are some things better left to the doctors.

Chat Icon In my experience, it's really the anticipation that's the worst part. I can't imagine that you won't be put to sleep for it, as most are... but once you wake up, it's over and you can focus on emotionally recovering from those torturous few weeks you've been through of uncertainty Chat Icon I hate hospitals and procedures but what it comes down to is, it's just a few hours and before you know it you'll be home in bed. Chat Icon I know it's much easier said than done...

For both of my procedures, I felt physically fine within a few days. Actually, after my D&C from the triplets I went out the very next day. I just couldn't bare to be home and miserable Chat Icon Chat Icon
