PCOS Girls - Updated with another question!
How did they determine your dosage? I'm seeing my OBGYN tonight and I'm going to talk to him about it. He mentioned it last time I was there...
Thanks!!
Update:
So I went to the OB yesterday for my annual exam, wondering if he would be able to prescribe me something to help regulate my cycle/body. I do not want to go back on the pill bc we are on the verge of TTC again. We spoken about Metformin in the past and I really thought that is what he was going to prescribe. Well, he gave me Provera which I expected, but he gave me 6 refills of it to take every 6-8 weeks to "mimic ovulation". And this my friends is why OBs are not REs! I just made an appt to see my RE, bc there's no way that I'm just going to keep taking Provera to bring on my AF. Has anyone ever done this??

Re: PCOS Girls - What is your daily dose of Metformin?
I take 750mg twice a day (so, 1500mg total).
I don't know why that's my dose, it just is! Good luck!!

Re: PCOS Girls - What is your daily dose of Metformin?
I was originally on 1000 mg with dinner and then was bumped up to 1500 (500 with breakfast and 1000 with dinner). That was the dose I was on when I got pregnant. They upped my meds to 1500 when I didnt get af for 3 months.

are they going to do a glucose test?
I'm not sure. Is that what they usually do before prescribing it?

Re: PCOS Girls - Updated with another question!
Let me tell you waht I did. Before I was ready to TTC, I went to the RE to get a work up and get an idea of what the protocols would be because we already knew I had PCOS. We knew we'd be doing fertility treatments and were ok with that. The RE told me to go on BCP because I wouldnt have to be stressing over when AF was coming, and there is some benefit to going straight from BCP to fertility treatments (I cant remember what it is though). This was January, then in March I decided to go to a different RE. The 2nd RE told me the same thing and started me on Metformin in addition to the BCP. In May, we started treatments and it was an easy transition since I knew when to come in for CD 3 testing, etc.
Not sure if you were planning on tryung naturally for a while but if you're planning on TTC with an RE, I'd go to the RE now and set a plan with them for the future. GL
