So my makeup bag is officially lost :-(

We went away for Thanksgiving. On the way home, we had to pull over to change DS and I needed to make room in the trunk to lay him down and change him (we have a SUV so it's not as bad as it sounds ;)

Anyway, I think my makeup bag fell out of the trunk and it was dark and I didn't notice.

ALL of my makeup and FAVORITE costume jewelry is gone. At least nothing real was in there, but I had some sentimental stuff there... A fake bracelet my Mom had given me that I loved, and my favorite Lia Sophia necklace. :(

Anyway, pity party over...

What is your favorite makeup right now? I am mid-30's and not sure MAC might be too young for me now? I used to own a mix of MAC, Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown

I know I should look at this as a chance to get all new makeup, but I am still so upset...

Ugh, that stinks!!! I'm so sorry, I'd be so upset too.

I'm also mid 30's and definitely don't think MAC is too young. I use a lot of MAC, I have a lot of eyeshadows, blushes, paintpots and gel liners. I love Laura Mercier for tinted moisturizer and concealer. I like Tarte blushes and bronzer.
I recently got a Bare Minerals eye shadow quad and I really like it!

Good luck, at least you will have fun buying new stuff!

I would use this as an opportunity for a make over. I just went to the make up counter and learned that I needed new concealer in a darker color. The woman explained that as you age your coloring needs can change so what once might have worked well, won't now. Boy was she so right. I got new concealer and I have had so many complements on how well rested I look, or how nice my eyes are now. It is all due to the new concealer.

As for what I would do, go to a department store and let them make you over, and get a basic concealer, powder, blush and lipstick. Then get the "holiday" set they have so you can add to your collection without breaking the bank. I personally like Lancome, Este Lauder, Mac, Elizabeth Arden, and Stilla.

I had foundation (Bobbi brown) pressed powder (Mac), bronzer, eyeshadows (Mac), concealer (Laura mercier) mascara, lip gloss, tools, brushes... Ugh. Of course I brought all of my favorite stuff because it was the holiday. Ugh.

I agree though that it's prob time for a makeover at a counter which I haven't done since right before my wedding 6 years ago.

One of the holiday sets is a really good idea. I'm off to the stores tomorrow morning because I can't possibly go another week at work not wearing any makeup! I kept thinking it would turn up. All I heard was "wow, you look sooo tired"!

So sorry about this.

My favorite bronzer blush duo is from Nars, I love Buxom mascara, I use a lot of urban decay eye shadows, as well as some MAC and Tarte. I use a MAC mineral powder (wet) and MAC concealer. Love Laura Mercier eye liner.

ETA: all of my favorite brushes are MAC
