Re: How did you decide on a breast pump??

I was going in between the two as well. I spoke with an LC and the Medela one has a really good track record and has been out a long time.

The ISIS IQ is brand new and the LC i spoke with wasn't familiar with it or didn't have experience with it. She told me if I go for it, to let her know how I like it.

That was enough for me, I actually went with the Medela Pump in Style, it's less expensive than the advanced. I paid 250 for it.

It's been sitting in my closet for the last 2 months since I like nursing soo much better, pumping just wasnt' for me!

i would wait to purchase it or open it until you have established a milk supply and are def sure you want to pump. I wish I did, I could have saved myself 250 bucks. JMHO

Good luck in whatever you decide

My mom used to be a LLL leader and recommended the Medela PIS for me. I purchased that one and it did the trick for the month and a half that I pumped. I do wish that I'd have tried renting a hospital grade one though in the beginning because I never really developed a good milk supply.

I knew I was only going to be pumping for an occassional bottle and I didn't have to go back to work so I didn't want to spend the money on the PIS. Instead I bought the Medela Double Select. I think it was only $129. If I was going to be pumping a lot I would have gotten the PIS. I think Medela has a really good reputation for making quality stuff so I would stick with that brand.

For the sheer fact that you cannot return the pump once you open it, you shoyld look into renting one. JMO.

I went with Medela because of the reputation & some mom reviews. Later I bought a manual Isis which was much easier when there is a sensitivity issue. I used the Medela at work.

I would wait to buy one unless you are absolutely sure you're going to bf/pump. I bought new attachments & borrowed my sisters the first 3 months. I bought my pump at 3 months when I was going back to work. If I didn't have the option of borrowing, I would have rented.
