It's not as bad as you think it'll be. I was really scared at first but the girls on here have some great tips. I find that warming up the vial in my hand or my bra etc for about 15 minutes (to thin out the oil) and injecting reeeeallllly slowly helps. And massage the area for a couple of min afterward

The anticipation is much harder than the actual shot. DH has now gotten used to the shot, and has not thrown up again since the first time he did it.
Once you get into the routine it will be over before you know it.

Ha, I remember reading about your DH and the shots. Now I know why! That needle is ridiculous

That's most of us on the board. You just do what you have to do... I'm just grateful that there are things out there (technology, inject, etc) that allow us the chance to get and stay pregnant.

Re: I havent started anything yet but
The very first shot DH gave me which was just ovidril we were both so nervous, he looked like he was going to pass out. Finally I was just like "Do it!", and when I didn't feel anything I peaked and saw he was moving his hand back and forth like he was about to throw a dart.
After that I just started doing them myself and he was happy because they made him feel sick, poor baby

Umm, yeah. They're scary looking. When I pulled it out last time around and looked at the needle my stomach dropped I might pass out if I had to do it myself though It's not nearly as bad if someone else does it for you and you heat before and after

As far as I know, I believe so. At the class I was at yesterday they said its because during the egg retrieval they drain fluids during the procedure that need to be replenished.

Not everyone needs to use pio. It depends on what you use to trigger.

Re: I havent started anything yet but
I hate the shot; my butt hurts all the time. The after effects are much worse then the shot itself!

I am doing IVF and do not believe I have to do one. What does PIO stand for?
