My BFF's sister was just diagnosed with Endometriosis and I am trying to help her gather information. She is 30 years old and has had very abnormally painful menstral cycles for a long time. Any information you can share will be greatly appreciate. Thank you in advance!

my mom suffered with it for a long time.

its when the lining of your uterus sheds to areas outside of the uterus, causing scar tissue and all sorts of problems. It can cause very heavy, painful periods. my mom would literally be stuck in bed for days b/c she couldn't move,and be soo swollen that she couldnt fit into anything. she said the pain was worse than giving birth some months.

she had to have a laproscopy to go in and remove the scar tissue which helped. (they go through your belly button sometimes or a small incision in the abdomen. its usually an outpatient procedure.) but she also has issues with recurring ovarian polyps that have been giving her problems lately.

if your friends sister doesnt have children yet, she may want to see a specialist b/c it can cause infertility or trouble conceiving.

I was diagnosed with endo in April and had a lap to remove it as well as an ovarian cyst. It can be a very painful condition but I find my pain is significantly less when I am on birth control. Feel free to FM me if you have any specific questions!

i was diagnosed with Endo about 4 years ago but i had symptoms of it for many years. i always had painful, heavy and long menstrual cycles. i couldnt function the first day or two of AF! i used to wonder if i could even handle child birth if its supposed to be worse than AF cramps but i never knew what i was experiencing was NOT normal.

4 years ago during a normal OB/GYN visit he did an internal sono and found a huge cyst on my left ovary. I had a lap (outpatient and very easy recovery) to remove the cyst and lots of adhesions (scar tissue) in my abdomin area.

A year after getting married we knew we would have issues getting pregnant due to the extent of my endo so after a few months of ttc on our own we saw a RE.

I was dx when I was 18. When I started TTC found I had a large cyst on my rt. ovary. OBGYN wanted to remove ovary. Went for a second opinion at at fertility specialist who encouraged me not to do the surgery...if I was able to get pregnant it would go away on its on. I had a very easy time TTC with both kids and although I still have very heave cycles, I never get any pain. The cyst has regrown...but is not large enough for concern.
