Fibroid & IVF
Started my inj. Tuesday, and went for my water sono today and they found a 3.5 fibroid.....
Dr. says we should still go forward with IVF, does this sound right? I am looking at some stuff on the internet now but wanted to check with my fellow IF sista's.....

Re: Fibroid & IVF
I have an fibroid about the same size and it was not a problem when I was going to start IVF. Under a certain size Drs do not remove it.

Re: Fibroid & IVF
I also have a fibroid - not sure of the size, but it was there when I got pg with my DD and it's still there now after my IVF - I'm 9.5 weeks pg now. If they are not concerned about it, don't stress!

Re: Fibroid & IVF
The location is the biggest factor. As long as it is not inside the uterine cavity, there should not be a problem.

Re: Fibroid & IVF
I have lots of fibroids..but they are located on the outside of my uterus and according to most Dr.'s..including mine..do not need to be removed. However, many Dr.'s do in fact believe that a fibroid inside of the uterus cavity or wall can be an impediment to implantation and should be removed. I would find out the exact location and if your fibroid is located inside the cavity or wall of the uterus, I would do some research and speak to your Dr about possibly removing it before starting IVF.
