No Coldcuts? Ive posted this before (a while back) but we have some new people on board and I hope you don't mind if I ask again. There are so many mixed answers and I Chat Icon I am not hurting my baby. My dr. said "Its Ok, as long as they are from a reputable place" and a name brand "Boarshead"!
I ONLY get turkey. I wont touch salami, ham, etc.
TIA ladies!Chat Icon

My Dr. said that turkey, ham and roast beef are fine- they are cooked before they are cured and so therefore won't carry listeria.

Things that are just cured and not cooked- like pepperoni, salami, etc. can carry listeria.

Re: How Many of your dr.s said..(Poll)

My doctor is so laid back when it comes to the food dos and don'ts..

... she told except for sushi, that a little of anything else in moderation was fine (that includes coldcuts..)

I have no desire for ham , bologna, etc. but I do eat turkey sandwiches a lot.. usually around 3-4x a week..

As for the other coldcuts, I have heard even more cautious doctors advise that they are 'ok' to eat as long as you heat them up a little bit before eating..and as you said, get them from a reputable place, good name brand (borsehead), etc..

My doctor is even more laid back, she said sushi was fine every once in a while, so were coldcuts and hotdogs! DH is convinced our baby is going to have 3 heads.

You ladies are making me feel better already! Like I said, I only eat the turkey (boarshead). My sister (same dr) ate them throughout her pregnancy too and my nephew is fine. But, I talked to two other people (different doctors) and they said "no".
This has been on my mind all day. Of course Im thinking 'WTHeck is wrong w/my dr"..LOL But Im glad he's not the only one saying "Its OK".

My Dr. wasn't too concerned over cold cuts either. And she said hot dogs occasionally, as long as they're fully cooked, would be fine too.

My dr. recommended heating them before eating. But, if i am craving a roast beef sandwhich, I just go to the deli and get one.

Just make sure you know that the place you are going to is clean. The whole problem with cold cuts is that they can catch a bacteria from the slicer if it wasnt cleaned properly....

The only thing my Dr. told me about food was to stay away from high mercury fishes like tuna, maceral and tile fish and no sushi. I had no idea you weren't suppose to eat hot dogs. I ate hot dogs like they were never going to make them again. DH thought I was going to turn into a hot dog and it go to a point that I would drive from Jericho on Jericho TPKE all the way to the Roosevelt Field to have Ben's Deli durning lunch!

My dr said moderation is the key, also as long as they are a clean place it's ok. He said not to buy the prepackaged ones. One of my friends would ask the deli to wipe the machine down before slicing her cold cuts, don't feel bad doing that!

Re: How Many of your dr.s said..(Poll)

My Dr is wayyy laid back with food, so was I. I ate everything in moderation, bologna, cold cuts from a deli, supermarket, pre packaged, and hot dogs. I had at least 2 cold cut sandwiches a week, and there were times I had a hot dog almost everyday.

He told me not to get my cold cuts from a gas station:hah
