Can you show me pics of your 5 x 8 bathrooms?

We're getting started on ours and I had one idea but becasue of price, now I have another.

It's hard to get ideas when you're looking at BIG beautiful bathrooms on decorpad and houzz.

On a room planning site it said a 36" vanity would fit. Seems like you guys have smaller ones, do you think a 36 would fit?

It would not fit with the toilet and tub.

I have a 24" vanity. You could get a bigger sink if you had a pedestral sink vs. cabinet.

I have a 5x8 bath. a 36 inch would be tight.

FWIW, I have a 30inch and I like it. I also have a slightly larger tub than standard at 32" and I wanted to make sure I had room so the toilet wasn't too crowded and I could have a garbage there.

Our bath is about 5.5 by 7.5. We do have a 36" vanity but it barely fits (as in there's no drywall next to it but you'd never know). DH says without the extra 6 inches you won't be able to fit a 36. I'll try to post pics in a bit.

What is the layout of your bathroom?

You saw my pics. Don't know the actual size but I can measure. 36" vanity is on the same wall as the toilet. Very little room inbetween but it's fine. Tub is on opposite wall of vanity and toilet.

As per code, the minimum area for a toilet is 30"(15" on each side of the center line). That with a 32" tub won't leave you enough room for a 36" vanity on the 96" wall. More important to consider is do you need a tub in that bathroom. A shower stall might give you more room to maneuver the layout.
That's what we are doing in our basement bathroom. Its 6.5 X7.5 with a toilet and shower on one short wall and the vanity on the other side. We could have fit in a 36" but went with a 30" so it doesn't get too crowded. Sorry, no pics yet-hopefully they will finish tiling today!

I've got a 5'x8', with the exact mirror image of the plans you have on the computer. Full-size tub, standard toilet, but a 31" vanity. It works great for DC. Plenty of room for them, and even enough room (barely) for either DW or I to wash DC in the tub.

I got the vanity from Ikea, and the sink from HD.

How deep is that vanity?

I had to go to a 24 inch size vanity (but it's a full size depth cabinet) because otherwise it would mean my elbow would touch the vanity when sitting on the toilet.

But in my layout, the vanity and toilet are flipped flopped. So in your scenario I could have gone to a 31 inch vanity (max).
