What is on your wish list...for your home...
We are going to be moving within the year....we are just growing out of our home.....we met with a builder....he said to put together a wish list....lol......so far...
5 bedrooms
A huge kitchen
Playroom....

Multiple bathrooms. Minimum of 2, minimum of 1 per floor.
Attached garage
Full basement with exterior door(s)
Solar panels
Large kitchen pantry
Double entry doors (makes getting furniture, appliances and steel structural beams in the house much easier....   )
If I was building a house, I'd have no, or very few, steps to the front door. Right now, I have about 8 steps from the driveway to the front door, and my older relatives have a hard time getting up and down the steps.

Right now we're in a two-family with my mother, so the only ones that are really an option are the new deck and the bathroom. But one day if/when my mom ever decides to move out, we can actually blow out the house and make a huge one-family...and that would be AWESOME

i'm really happy in our house but it doesn't have every single feature i would have liked but for the amount we wanted to spend we couldn't have everything and we had to compromise...so these are the things i'd add in my next house:
larger backyard (we live in a townhome now)
a larger eat in kitchen (mine now is eat in but it only fits a small table & 4 chairs, i would love a larger table and more cabinets/counterspace) and i would love at least one window (my kitchen is windowless)
either a great room or a formal dining room and family room that is open to the kitchen (right now i have a living-dining combo that is not open to the kitchen)
an extra bedroom or a dedicated den/office area

What I wanted:
- Good neighborhood close to NYC
- Good schools
- At least 2000 SF
- At least 3 BR
- Good size, nice kitchen
- 1.5 BA or more
- Good size yard
- Attic or basement for storage or possible den
- Garage
- Room for expansion
- Within 5 minutes walk to downtown/mass transit
- House about 500k or under
I got everything on the list, except the nice kitchen but we're working on upgrading it now.

Our list included:
- four bedrooms
- master bathroom in our bedroom
- family room
- formal living & dining rooms
- island in kitchen
- front porch
- garage
- basement
- walk up attic
- fireplace
- area with tall, old trees
- old house with character
We ended up with everything except the fireplace, the trees and the character...our house was old but in bad shape and with very little character so we had to gut/renovate it.

We will be closing on our new house in a few weeks and this was what I wished for and got and didn't get that we learned from our first house.
Got:
big kitchen/great room with firplace
office
finished basement
master bath
big yard
great school district
formal living room and dining room
Didn't get:
Four bedrooms
move in ready
bathroom in basement
Our new house will be everything we want (minus the 4th bedroom) once we are done. I would have liked a little less work needed to be done but it is what it is and now I can do everything to my taste.

This would be my ideal home, I know we will have to sacrifice somewhere
-3-4 bedrooms
-atleast 2 baths
-nice yard (prefereably fenced in)
-patio or deck (or both LOL)
-finished bathroom or playroom/office (pretty much an extra room we could use how we want)
-garage
-bedrooms preferably all on the same level
