listen to this

I want to get an airconditioner for the livingroom and he doesnt want one.

me and the kids are sweating all day long. he says its the money but thats not the reason because he put a deposit on a $3,000 pool that he was gonna surprise me with (but with a 3yr old and all the drownings I dont want it)

I am a very low maintenance person. I clip coupons and only buy things that are on sale. I dont understand why he doesnt want one.....he doesnt even want to discuss it! I am so mad at him right now

Re: I am so mad at DH

Why not just go and buy one? The energy star ones aren't that bad with electricity. Even if DH said he didn't want one I would get one.

ETA: I'd actually say you if you don't like it you can go into another room and sweat your b@lls off! Chat Icon But DH actually runs the A/C more than I do.

Re: listen to this

There is no way that I would live without AC. It is not only uncomfortable, but can also be dangerous when it gets this hot and humid.

Re: listen to this

I would be LIVID....unless you cant afford basic neccesities, and since the pool was an option, I think you can afford AIR...Our Lipa bill goes up about $25-$35 a month in the summer, but its only 2 or 3 months..worth it to me..

Re: listen to this

Ok are you sure its the bill? because the electric bill will be VERY high- from the pool- you have to run the filter- and that waste a ton of electricity-

It is too hot! our A/C downstairs in the den broke and I told him to go get another and he did- I didnt have to ask twice but rest assured I would have chewed his ear off till he didnt want to hear anymore and just agree! Keep your ground the heat is NO good for you and the kids and think of the bacteria that grows from heat too- even if the house is clean- in rugs/ sweat on the couch- all bacteria and the moisture that stays in the bathroom? ugh make him get one ASAP- forget the pool!( we h ave a pool and have yet to use it! youd be surprised how busy you are and pools are a lot of maintenance- th ats an expense too!)

Re: listen to this

I was thinking about this more, and I would be even more upset that he won't discuss it. I think that gets into a bad pattern of him making all the decisions, without consulting you. And a decision like that, without reason, seems just to exert him being the one with all the power. Anyway, I saw that with my parents, and it is a bad road to go down.

Re: listen to this

Oh wow - with this weather you really NEED an air conditioner. Maybe he would compromise and get one small one to cool off one room (like a den/family room)??? If it was terribly hot, you could all hang out in there and even sleep in there if need be.

Today the new air conditioners are so energy efficient and dont cost that much to run. YOu can also set them on power saver modes to save more $.

Maybe he'd agree to get one as a trial and as long as the electric bill doesnt go too high, he wont mind keeping it.

One other thing - take the $3000 and put it towards the electric bill - that will pay for an a/c for about 10 years!

Good luck!
