first IVF cyle - freakingggggggggg outttt

so its finally here, after a long 3 years, I am finally at the stage where I am open and strong enough for IVF, even though its freaking me out beyond anything I have ever done before....I am as armed as I can be, I have my meds, just waiting for my AF to show so I can get this phase moving along....met with my RE yesterday so I know my protocol....

I have 2 questions for those of you who did IVF before:

1. Am I completely crazy to start & end this cycle right around the holiday's knowing how it could impact me emotionally/physically if it doesn't work? I dont want to wait any longer now that I finally have the courage to take this step, but I am so afraid of being devastated as well during a time people expect you to be happy...My DH and I decided to only tell 2 personal friends that we are doing IVF who have done it themselves, our families dont know, we dont have the heart to tell them either in case it does not work out.......

2. For the transfer, did any of you take anything for this? ie: valium, vicadin, etc. I have a very narrow/tight opening down there, (sorry TMI I know lol) and I exp. more pain than most with paps, IUIs, etc.....was wondering if any of you asked your RE for anything, I dont want to seem like a wimp, but I want to be relaxed when it happens etc.

Thanks in advance ladies, sorry for the long rant, I know all of you on this board have your own sad, painful, frustrations with IF, I pray for each and every one of us every day that someday we all graduate!!!

I am sure you can take something at the time of the transfer if needed, but trust me you won't feel any pain or discomfort. Going through IVF at any time can be emotional and physically exhausting and or stressful but its all worth it in the end. Good Luck

Thanks, there is a tiny voice in my head telling me to run but I am really trying hard to ignore it and think postively that things will work out and just move forward, I just wish AF would get here already so we can start this before I chicken out....

as for the transfer, I guess I will see how my trial run goes I guess.....I am usually a nervous wreck to begin with, so was not sure if taking something to help me relax iand not focus on any pain is normal protocol...

OMG I know exactly how you feel! I am about to start my first IVF cycle also and even though I am excited to be moving forward I am also nervous and anxious. I would hate to get bad news right before christmas and my bday. My mom, best friend and a cousin (who recently got her BFP after her 3rd IVF cycle) are the only ones who know that I'll be doing IVF in the next couple of weeks.

I got all my meds this evening and its so overwhelming to think I'll be taking all of this!

From what I've read on LIF the transfer process is very easy.

They most likely have me skipping bcps because Im trying to get in before the year ends.
