what is with the term relax....

I have to admit it drives me up a flipping wall when people say it...it is right up there with u just need to have more sex

Why does being relaxed have to do with getting pregnant? I honestly want to know...is there studies that prove something?was the first woman to get pregnant at a spa?

Anyone else hate that too or is it just me

I know you hate to hear it but the one cycle I was completely relaxed and not worrying about TTC I got PG. So I believe there is a stress factor when TTC.

It seems to make me less and less relaxed and more and more irate. You're not alone I think people just don't know what to say and turn to a cliche phrase.

As much as I hate to hear it too; I think there is some truth to it. I guess because so many people do get pregnant witout worrying or thinking about it. Two months in TTC, I became obsessed; well here I am now 4 years later.....and I got $hit to show for it. I'm probably my own worst enemy.

All my mind does is think. It's non-stop! Even at Accupuncture.......they would love for you to fall asleep; but not me; its just more alone time for my mind to keep on racing and thinking.

I wanna relax too but I have no idea how to! Maybe some day I'll learn.

I REALLY hated this phrase.

I did everything for 2 years:
timed my cycle
did tons of different methods
relaxed & did not time my cycle
on all kinds of different days: every day, every other day
stuck my legs in the air...

It took IVF to get me there... not meditation.

To me, it was like saying "be happy" to a depressed person.

I honestly don't know if I know how. I feel like every cycle all I do is consistently think about it. The only months I "relax" is when I don't try and even then I am thinking of next months plan.

There is a lot of evidence that shows that stress and anxiety make it more difficult to get PG.

The problem with telling us infertiles to relax is that it fails to acknowledge how horrible his process and how it can consume your life in ways that make it impossible to "just relax" and "have more sex."

And that's what makes me mad about it.

For what it's worth... Dr.B told me when you are positive about a cycle, it helps increase the seratonin levels in your body which could help your lining. Maybe that's my lining took such a beating these last few weeks

ETA: I agree with you though.. I feel like it's the same idea of telling someone who needs to lose weight, "Just don't enjoy eating cookies". Seriously. You CAN'T control the stress of infertility the same you can't control your cravings, desires, etc.

I think if 'relaxing' really drew the ling between getting pregnant or not, there would be no graduates of this board!! This process is a mind f*ck.

I always laugh when someone says relax. I don't know about you, but it always comes from the one who has kids and had no problems getting them. So many people ask when we're gonna have kids and the longer we go through this the more honest I've become. I used to say one day, then it went to we're working on it and now it's we're working on it, but it's not so easy for everyone. Well, last week someone actually said...."all you have to do is go buy those OPKs that give you the smiley face and you'll get pregnant right away" If only it was that easy. Is it me or does every fertile think they know how to get you pregnant????? Hey, sh#thead.....if my RE can't get me pregnant what thinks you can!!!! Sorry vent over

Ugh kinda hard to relax when you are running to a million appointments and taking all these meds and it's still not working. And we have all done the relax and see what happens route and that obviously didn't work.

idk..i just feel like i was "relaxed" the first 6 months now almost 2 years later i don'y buy into it...maybe it has worked for some and that is great but for some it is just a dagger inthe heart...i really feel like it is the number 1 thing u never say to someone who is struggling ttc

I dont hink I have truly been 'relaxed' since my honeymooon 5 years ago, this was the last time I can remember being happy with everything how it was, I think since we came home from there, babies were always on our mind.......

Dont get me wrong, life could be worse, I have a good home, ok job, wonderful husband, but not conceiving has been haunting.....
