Re: gas or oil?
Gas is SO much cheaper. In the coldest month my bill is under 200.

Re: gas or oil?
I've had houses with both and pricewise it's comparable to be honest.. BUT gas is just MORE convenient and you don't have to worry about contracts or getting locked in on prices or running out of it..

I totally agree. My gas bill can be pretty expensive -- I think people have a misconception that gas is ridiculously cheap. But it's convenient (no oil deliveries, etc.) and "cleaner." You don't get that oil burner smell that you can sometimes get with oil.

Re: gas or oil?
I have had both. Gas is not crazy cheaper but I will tell you I have never had a $600 gas bill but do have oil bills that are that.
We are switching to gas once our neighbor gets the gas line closer to us.

Re: gas or oil?
Since my oil delivery bill was just $1500, I can't wait to switch to gas. Even if it comes out to about the same, I wouldn't mind more balanced billing.

Re: gas or oil?
It's about the same but gas bills are once a month where oil bills can be every 3 weeks or whenever you need a fill. It can seem higher.
It works out to be about the same but not having to haggle with contracts can be a good thing.
With oil you can go on a budget too. Not a lot of people know that.

Re: gas or oil?
Also with oil you can be on auto delivery.
I never have run out and I'm on a budget plan.

Re: gas or oil?
My gas bill for a 2000 sq ft house is $150-160 month. My first house was 1200 sq ft and In the winter we were paying $400+ month in oil October - April and $200+ month in the warmer months.

Re: gas or oil?
Thanks! It seems like gas is preferred. I just get nervous about gas leaks goign undetected but I guess that is what the gas detectors are for!

Re: gas or oil?
I use oil. Since last November we've spent $1500 on oil. We have a 200 gal tank and fill up about 3x per year. Gas makes me nervous. Don't know why...
